Publisher's summary

Is it a hoax, or is it something unspeakably real? In this short story about evil games and spiraling secrets, whatever bargain you strike, there’s a price to be paid.

Mason Brandt dropped out of seminary and found a job at a spiritual center offering guidance to troubled teens. Mason was one himself years ago - a suspect in a young girl’s disappearance. When a female student is found murdered, Mason is dogged by suspicion and flees. He hopes Merle House will offer him sanctuary once again.

Circling the Drain is part 3 of House of Crows, a four-part serial about friends with a shared history of darkness. They’ve spent their lives running, but they can no longer hide from the past. Each story can be read or listened to in a single haunted sitting.

old fashioned scary story

enjoying it. Reminds me a bit of Stephen King, story of a group of kids that get mixed up with a hungry ghost/demon, good v evil, situated in a small old northern town.Americana haunted by the past, the dark woods. well done. a late winter's or night's listen, atmospheric.

On to the last - hoping for a good wrap up.

Ok - I’m not entirely sure where we are going with these stories. Each one adds to the one before. Introducing new characters and situations. I hope I get all the answers with the last book! They have all been well narrated and interesting. I would suggest reading or listening back to back! On to the last…hope it all comes together!

All must return to the Merle House

Circling The Drain is Book three in the House of Crows series which focuses on Mason’s character. The prior two books focused on Matthew, Ian, and Claire. Now that all four characters have been identified with backstories the forth book will conclude.
Mason works as a counselor at a spiritual center. He works with troubled teens. One teen in particular calls upon his service. Mason likes helping these teens but sometimes they put him in compromising positions.
The Dark Man legend is slowly building the dark memories of what took place when all four characters were sixteen. Bringing them together using the resources they’ve developed over the years should flush out the Dark Man.
I should feel scared or creeped out, yet I don’t. It’s not eerie enough. When I saw these four books I couldn’t wait for an opportunity to read them. Being a prime member allowed me to borrow all four books with the audiobooks. I must say they aren’t as exciting as I had hoped. They are an okay listen. I imagine if these were a mini series they might come across as visually creepy. The narrators didn’t add that element of fright.

Narrators:
Adam Verner
Frankie Corzo
Susannah Jones
James Anderson Foster

I’m unfamiliar with a few of these narrators. I did enjoy each performance. I listened at 2X the speed using the audible app. I downloaded the ebook and followed along. I’m not sure which of these narrators played which characters. Overall it was a decent listen.
