Publisher's summary

Winning by not competing! This international best seller upends traditional thinking with principles and tools to make the competition irrelevant.

In an audiobook that challenges everything you thought you knew, W. Chan Kim and Renee Mauborgne assert that tomorrow's leading companies will succeed, not by battling their rivals for market share in the bloody "red ocean" of a shrinking profit pool, but by creating "blue oceans" of untapped new market spaces ripe for growth.

Based on a study of 150 strategic moves, spanning more than 100 years and 30 industries, they provide a systematic approach that every company can use to render rivals obsolete and unleash new demand:

  • Reconstruct market boundaries
  • Focus on the big picture
  • Reach beyond existing demand
  • Get the strategic sequence right
  • Overcome organizational hurdles
  • Build execution into strategy

Overall fairly dated metaphors and stories:

Some useful tidbits to tell if you're chasing a market or creating one but not many useful tools beyond such litmus tests.

    Good for multinationals

This book is good only for the big positions in multinationals,no value for my consulting firm. Too many examples in manufacturing firms.

    Mediocre at best

This book does one thing very well - pontificate. This book is interesting and boring all at the same time. Here is the punchline - differentiate yourself from the competition!

    helpful but not overly insightful

I really enjoyed the stories about businesses and how they came to be. The other concepts were not net new.

    Chapters Are Jumbled

The chapter doesn't start when it says it will on the Audible chapter page. Its all mixed up and makes it really frustrating and annoying to follow. Esp for me because i read it chapter by chapter for school.

I am about to purchase the paperback as there are diagrams and graphs referenced otherwise I listen to this book more than I listen to anything else ..not just books but anything ..I listen to this book .ore than I listen to cars driving.
