Good information, but narrated like a salespitch

*I received this Audiobook for free for the purpose of review*

I've been interested in beekeeping for quite a while but never really had the time to get to it. When this book showed up as available for review I got excited.

Overall, I felt the book contained a lot of good information, and I do feel like I could get started with beekeeping based mostly on the information in the book. It has sections on equipment you'll need, how it all works, how to go about the routine maintenance you have to do, as well as how to identify various problems. The step-by-step instructions for tasks always seemed fairly thorough and easy to follow, and when comparing options they typically discussed pros and cons, and then offered their suggestion.

The one issue I did have with the book, is that the narrator come across like a get-rich-quick sales person, which is annoying to me. I guess I would classify it as 'overly enthusiastic'. Like they're trying to hype me up to sell me something, which doesn't do the book justice, as there was only one point I can recall at which they dropped a brand name.

If you are looking to get into bee keeping, I'd say this is a good choice for an all around overview of the topic. It doesn't go too advanced, but it does offer some guidance on where to start and how to go on from there.

The Bee's Knees

I was acquainted with the phrase "shop till you drop", but not with the idea that bees work until they literally drop dead. If they live up to eight months during the low season and only six weeks in the harvesting season, it makes you wonder if having a job is well worth the effort. ;)
Jam-packed with informative, as well as entertaining information, this book is not only for beekeepers but for tree huggers and lifelong learners. I thoroughly recommend it for people who have to serve a short sentence, for people who study English as a second or foreign language, for philosophers looking for fresh analogies to explain the meaning of life, or just for people who have a long ride home.
Happy listening!

Very informative!

I was a newbie to the whole idea of beekeeping and this is a fantastic book to get you started. I would have given it 5 stars, but it would have been nice to have a pdf with illustrations for some of the items that were discussed. If you are interested in getting your feet wet, this is a perfect book to gain some knowledge.

This book was provided at no cost for a fair and honest review.

A great listen whether you plan to keep bees or not

I love honey 🍯. I am fascinated by bees in general. With the current focus on the new population I thought “hey this would be a cool listen”. It was. It was a fascinating trip through the basics of bee keeping, hive health, honey harvesting and everything that goes into making it all happen. I’m not normally a how to book guy but this was great. It also has some moments of hilarity that I hadn’t expected....I’m still stuck with the leaf blower image in my head. Get it and enjoy it. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator or publisher

Getting started

As a basic book on beekeeping this ticks all the boxes. I was glad that the narrator actually seemed to be interested in the subject and wasn't just reading like it seems on a lot of nonfiction books. I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

No

This narrator spends the entire time yelling at you. There is no passion or flow. It’s just one, loud, technical guy reading from a script. Absolutely worst audio ever. Want my money back.
