Survivalist's Guide to Prepping

I was lucky enough to receive Nash's paperback in July. He writes with a noticeable voice that resembles an Uncle at a campfire educating a boy scout troop. The information is prosaic and helpful and covers literally everything to be prepared for in contingency situations from herb lore to canning and plausible scenarios that require special information up to and including what to do in the event of nuclear war. The audiobook is lacking where visual step by step knot tying is concerned, so you may want to go ahead and get the paperback as well, but the audiobook is succinct and the presentation has good diction and enunciation. This turns out to be a splendid listen in the car on the way to and from work. So get your Go Bags ready and have a sense of personal security with the knowledge Nash imparts. God Bless.

Excellent guide, very informative

The prepping community has been growing rapidly. Surviving off the grid is becoming a reality and it’s not too soon to start prepping. This guidebook will surely help. No matter what you may think about one day needing to survive a natural disaster, an electrical shutdown of the grid, or financial collapse, one thing is for certain. The ones who will survive a long-term aftermath of such a disastrous event are the ones who are prepared for it. A short-term catastrophe is one thing, but if the emergency goes on for a long period of time, there are things you will need to know about how to survive it. In this audiobook, Jonathan Nash lays it all out and makes you think about more than just rushing out to get water or which foods to stock up on when you get stuck in your home for a few days. He talks about how to assess your own situation in the area of where you live and make appropriate plans.

Disease, lack of sanitation, no phones or ways to contact family members and friends, services like the police or fire department not being available, injuries that require first aid—we will have to know how to do the things we’ve previously counted on others to do for us. The author covers possible scenarios, the kinds of food you will want to store, what you will need to defend your home and family from intruders, and much more.

Off-grid living is also called homesteading. It’s not as easy as it sounds, but Nash give us the information we need to create our own little domain where we can be safe, productive, and most of all, self-sufficient. Chapters 7 and 8 are full of great tips and suggestions, many explained in great detail, that offer solutions to off the-grid-challenges. Great information. Highly recommended.

Uncomfortable Truth but Very Helpful

This is a challenging title to listen to because it's about facing disasters. But it is essential to be prepared! I must say that the narrator's voice was very calming to listen to, which helped, especially when he was talking about facing a nuclear blast or any WHTF situation. I also like the chapter on food prep and the plant section that can help with medical emergencies. Overall, an excellent addition to my selection of self-reliance books.

Feeling Prepared!

I used to think being prepared meant having some canned food and a couple gallons of water in my garage...Not the case! Jonathan Nash really makes you think about what it would take to live comfortably should the worst happen. Canned beans and rice are not enough. He also makes it clear that being fully prepared isn't necessarily cheap - and gives tips on how to store up over time. A must read for anyone, you don't have to be paranoid- it's about being smart and feeling secure.

Must listen

Disasters and catastrophes can happen anytime, anywhere, and without warning. And if you are not prepared ahead, you will panic and lose. As such, everyone should be prepared or at least informed of how to survive off the grid when the time comes. We have seen the pandemics and the ongoing wars and conflicts, and how it has affected us; and this is the time to stay informed and get prepared. As such this is an excellent resource to help you with that. Great content. Nicely presented. Highly recommend.
