Publisher's summary

Traditions run deep….

Most mercenary units fly flags on two flagpoles at their headquarters: one with their unit’s flag, and other bearing the flag of their current employer. However, the Third Regimental Combat Team—a.k.a. the Eridani Light Horse—leaves one flagpole bare, as a reminder of the death of the Star League, and the other pole flies the Light Horse’s unit and regimental flags at half-mast.

What triumphs and tragedies shaped the Eridani Light Horse and its traditions? What drove them to become a force to be reckoned with, an elite mercenary unit with one of the longest histories and the deepest traditions in the Inner Sphere? Now, collected for the first time, nine of BattleTech’s finest authors bring the legacy of this storied unit to life like never before.

Witness the Eridani Light Horse’s origins in the Star League, and follow their evolution all the way through the Succession Wars and the Clan Invasion to their downfall during the Dark Age and their resurrection in the uncertain future of the ilClan era.

Narrators are pretty Distracting

I really tried to set the narration aside and enjoy the stories, but the narrators used are in desperate need of work. Words are consistently mispronounced and not just words unique to the setting. Additionally, the narrator's voices do not change enough between characters and it can be hard to distinguish who is speaking. One of the narrators has changed accents for a specific character from some kind of Russian to Scottish to a southern us Scottish accent and it is pretty distracting.

Readers need work

It was very difficult to listen to. The mispronunciation of words and the over exaggerated accents were very distracting. This is a great collection of stories and it deserved a better effort from everyone involved in it.

Stories are really good, the narration is not

There are a variety of narrators for this anthology. They vary from good to so distracting it was nearly impossible to listen to. Sure there are a number of BattleTech-specific words whose pronunciation is not a matter of record (Hanse Davion, Capellan), but multiple narrators mispronounced fairly common English words. Then there were the narrators who emphasized every word. Like. It. Was. The. Most. Important. Word. Ever.

If I hadn't already read the physical book and knew how the plots went, I doubt that I would have been able to finish the book.

good story poor performance

most mispronounced words I've ever heard in a book on this platform. I really do enjoy the BattleTech series but this is a definite low for it.

Accents kill it for me

I love that we have this available and I appreciate the effort here.

if I could offer feedback it would be: We already have a SciFi setting that is fantastical, we don't need EVERY CHARACTER to have a weird accent!

in one story, you have a narrator with a beautiful voice doing two female characters with almost the same awful accent talking to each other. which is impossible to listen to.

you can put a little accent in here and there, but for everyone's sake, just read the damn story!

Need to pronounce words and names correctly wow

Hanse is not Han-say
Guidon is not Gideon

and many other errors I cannot believe this was not edited a bit before release.

otherwise the writing is ok if a little jumping in the time frames of the stories.

Fun listen with some flubs here and there

Honestly a pretty good and fun battletech story pretty good for those new to the setting. Sure some mispronunciations, and voice work was a bit rough sometimes but it was overall a entertaining listen.

Some truly horrible accents...

The story about how Horses joined Davion. I believe the 3rd book. The accents were horrible..I had to skip most of that story.

Eh some good short stories but most at mediocre

I would just pass on this one. There are a few good tales. But really need to give people a primer on pronunciation of words. Ly-ren commonwealth grates on my nerve.

The female narrator is awful as are several of the male narrators.

I think the first narrator for the first story is the best and would have made these mediocre tales better. I know this is a compilation. But wow! Pass on this.
