Really good!

Fast pace action and yes i can see why some reviews were complaining about how dumb the people in charge are but by book 3 you realize just how little personnel the military has but it you can move past that the story is really entertaining and i felt that each book was better than the last

story and hero picked up pace as trilogy closed

first book was ok. set the stage but as it closed, the pace and heroic nature of lead character sharpened. bit of standard rebels who becomes epitome of warrior leader. always got soft spot for stories like that as I've known many who have turned out like that. including my pops.

i enjoyed it

ok. i love space opera and B grade sci fi movies, too. so, if you like the "starship troopers" style of sci fi - you know the kind that doesn't hurt your head with too much speculative physics, then maybe you'll like this. its not a pulitzer but its easy listening fun.

Good thing humans are not this dumb

Normally, when I dont like an audio book, I just move on. But this one got under my skin fir two reasons.

First, if you are going to write about Marines, even Space Marines, you need a narrator than can talk like a Marine. This narrator actually is pretty good, but when he tries the DI voice, it is not believable. For me, it was just too distracting.

Second, everyone in charge are idiots. The main character is smarter than everyone around him and eventually rises to the top because of that. But think about it. We are supposedly in a fight for the existence of our species against an enemy with superior weapons and numbers. If the peoole in charge really were that stupid, humanity would already be gone. Plus, its like the author has no idea how a real military works. If a real human military ran recruitment, training, and ops the way the author writes it in the book, we would not be able to fight any enemy, much less a powerful one. Honestly, I think there are drug cartels with more organization than the space marines in this book.

I hate being critical and I dint want to maje the author feel bad. Aside from the story problem, the book is pretty well written. Most of the main characters are interesting. But if you are going to write militarty SciFi, you need to understand how the military works and write your stiry to reflect that.

The narrator was pretty good. If he had out sime effort into getting down a good DI voice, I would have loved his performance.

Terrific

Character development is excellent. Story is very believable. Glad I have the next two in the series so I do not have to wait for the next adventure.

Fun listen. Solid story.

I really enjoyed this story. It is a bit predictable but well written/told. Looking forward to the next set of books.

Dribble

Pathetic please stop writing. Nothing about this title made me like it. The storyline was dead boring. I tried to listen but kept getting drowsy.
