Publisher's summary

The human soldiers stranded on the planet Paradise have been recruited into an alien legion to do the dirty jobs that the high-tech species won't do. Their first mission is to kick the enemy off a backwater planet no one cares about. It's a simple assignment, except everyone has a hidden agenda, and the planet could become a deathtrap.

Great new direction for the Ex. Force!

Having listened to all the Ex. Force books, this branch of the series is off to a great start. While I miss Skippy, Nert is provides some comic relief and the interaction between the different species is pretty entertaining. Nice twist at the end!

Mavericks - a warriors tale

I do so love Craig Alanson books and this continuing tale is no different. The characters are so well written and as always, RC Bray makes them come alive.

The only con about this book, is that we have to wait for the next one.

Great side story from the talking beer can

I love Skippy and Joe but they can be a bit redundant if you're constantly listening to them so this is a great break from that but still getting that military sci-fi feel that most people want out of these books.

Fun spin-off of the main Expeditionary Force

This book pretty much takes place right after the events of the Mavericks book from the Expeditionary Force series. This characters jump into their own adventure here. While you don't exactly have to read Mavericks beforehand, you probably should at least have read Columbus Day in order to understand the alien societies in this book. RC Bray again does a fabulous job of voicing this book. Craig Alanson has his work cut out for him with two series, and I couldn't be happier!
