Full of discoveries

Listening to this book, you will have many discoveries, especially the common threads that will now make sense if you are living or have lived in this type of relationship. The intro has a great story, and the chapters about fixation and other issues I have lived through (insecurities, problems with boundaries, fear of self, etc.) are validating. Towards the end, I loved how it all came together with solutions. Add this one to your library and take the time to understand yourself or your partner better.

Truly Fantastic!!

This book is really informative, a great wealth of information here that really helps a person to understand ADHD whether they have it themselves or not. It talks about why you do the things you do and how you can help yourself with those "issues".
Really a fantastic book and definitely recommend to anyone wanting to understand it for themselves or for your "partner" , friend etc.

Very engaging

I haven't always understood what ADHD is and most importantly how a relationship might be affected as a result of one's ADHD personality or that of our partner. As a society, we tend to judge and maintain misconceived ideas about people with certain personality traits. But what this book does well is using personal experience, to break down several areas of relationships life where these misconceptions have to be lifted e.g. laziness is not the same as idleness, or addictive personalities have to be understood in the context of impulsivity, a core symptom of ADHD. Great listening!

I balled reading this...

I was diagnosed later in life, couple years ago, but have been with my partner for a long time. This book was like the answers I didn't know we needed. As I am the ADHD partner, hearing about everything Lisette and her partner went through, was so weirdly comforting. It's like, oh, they're are others that are just like us out there. I loved how she didn't treat ADHD like it was a deficit, rather, something that could be built on once you understood it.

Great Read!

The words written in this book are like a mirror being held up to my life and my relationship (we are not married but have been together for a looong time). Sometimes you just need the validation of knowing that you're not alone, and that yes, ADHD can definitely make managing your relationships a lot harder. What I liked though was the heartfelt lessons that Avenelle weaves throughout. So so relatable...already recommended this to some of my ND friends.

Incredibly Validating

I was at my wits end in almost every aspect of my relationship. My spouse and I have been trapped in a harmful ADHD action-reaction cycle that was quite literally breaking each of us down (she's non ND). This book spoke from a personal story perspective and you can 100% tell that the writer is one of us. So much of our relationship struggles were written on these pages, making it therapeutic to listen to - like talking to an old friend. Certainly recommend to all ADHD impacted relationships.

I'm getting married and have ADHD

I have mild ADHD. Though we're not yet married, I thought this book might have some insight into things I could expect. It was as I hoped, and I now notice things about myself I didn't know. I feel more informed, and able to communicate with my partner on how I act! Even without being married, this book was valuable to me. Thanks to the writer!

Helpful Information

My spouse has ADHD and I found this book to be so helpful. The author uses real life examples from her own life and marriage to make her points and I found this to be especially comforting. Knowing there are others who are struggling with these kinds of issues is a big help. The narrator has a nice voice and is easy to listen to.
