Publisher's summary

Adrian Davis thought getting on a real-life, ‘beam me up, Scotty’, transport pad was adventure enough. Visiting her mother—and the Atlan beast her mom had chosen as a mate—on another planet? Setting foot in an Atlan prison? Completely crazy.

Like totally, bat-shit, what-the-hell-was-she-doing-with-her-life crazy.

She was supposed to spend a few days wandering around with her twin sister, seeing the sights, expanding her horizons. The trip was supposed to be a much needed break from the hectic schedule she was keeping in school. She was only nineteen. She had plans. Finish college. Medical school. Husband. House. Two-point-five perfect kids and a golden retriever named Buddy.

All that changed with one roar of pain. She heard him. A beast. He was out of control, locked behind an impenetrable wall, alone. Suffering the agony of mating fever.

Ready to die. Forsaken.

Adrian can’t let him go. She will have to fight a centuries old system, warlords on another world, and the beast himself to get what she wants.

To save him.

To keep him for herself.

Ok

I was not overly thrilled by this storyline. Some parts of it will keep your attention. Other parts did not. Kovo and Adrian were an odd pair. Got lost trying to understand that Adrian was half-alien. That would’ve been nice to know in the Maxis Are you and Vivian storyline

Atlan warlords are kings!!

Grade Goodwin writes some fabulous stories with terrific characters but my all time favorites are the Atlan Watlords and their beasts. Corvo and Adrian were so fantastic together. And I love that it was Adrian who knew who felt that Corvo was hers. But even with that knowledge nothing runs smoothly. Her beast was about to be evacuated for something he really didn’t do believing that he was going to die of mating fever anyway. Oh what a wild ride. And Tor Thom has the most amazing voice and brings this Atlan warlord to life. And Shiloh James did a beautiful job as feisty Adrian Davis. Highly recommend!!!!

Great read

I really enjoyed this one!! I loved the differences this time and getting to see more of what Atlan is like, kinda, since that is the primary location the story is set it. I loved how feisty Adrian is. She knew Kovu was her mate and wasn’t going to just let that go. I loved how his Beast made itself known and built that relationship as well. This story has quite a few twists and turns as well with Kovu being ready to be executed and the reason behind all of it. I really enjoyed it and am excited to see what comes next.

This is the only story from her I didn’t like

It started with a unique finding of each other, won’t give away details. For me it had such potential but I hated that the beast and the Atlan were two different characters that didn’t know each other in a way. For the longest time I thought Kovo was mistaken for a twin or another person altogether. It just didn’t work for me, the beast/Atlan was too different.

Poor storytelling

I love this series but did not like this story. Too predictable & characters were not developed enough.

Loved the characters story lacking

The performances by the narrators was top notch but the book left something to be desired. There was too much suspense and emotional turmoil than you would expect from a book from this series. Left with a very unsatisfying feeling because I know with these characters there was so much more that could have been done. It just felt more like a novella to me.

Wished it were longer

These stories are just too short for me. They could easily be double in length and the storyline fleshed out more. There is so much more that could have been covered in this book. Felt cheated to be honest. Love these books but give me more please.
