Publisher's summary

I had always known he wasn't mine to keep, but that didn't change the way I loved him - quietly, gently, and from afar.

As the seasons changed, the corn stalks grew strong, and the grapevines flourished with hope. But none of it mattered, not when the soil at our feet bound us in a century-old rivalry. We'd never even had a chance.

They said life flashed before your eyes on the way to death, but on that night, after my final scream burst from my throat and my world started to fade to black, I only thought of him. Of his sweet chocolate eyes, his desperately cautious stare, and his silence that carried more weight than gold.

I should have died that night. Instead, I crossed the moonlit bridge and never returned.

I let rivalry win. If only that had been enough to keep us all safe. If only we didn't have a bridge between us.

Contains mature themes.

One of my favorite KK Allen books ever!

😍😍😍
Listen, listen, listen, guys, listen.

I’m in love.

This book, guys. I mean. Seriously! It’s sexy, romantic, enthralling, heart pounding, swoon-y. This list of adjectives could go on, but I think you get the picture.

I always recommend Up in the Tree House to people who might not know they love romance, or just really want a good story. A Bridge Between Us delivers this as well.

The fmc reminds me of me as a child. Carefree, wild, a little too daring. I loved that Ms. Allen gives us the ability to see her grow up, to see each step of her life that makes her the woman she becomes.

And the mmc—I had such a clear vision of him in my mind.

Allen’s writing has the ability to draw you in beyond words on a page so that you actually feel like your there experiencing the story through the characters.

As always, there’s a great friend that offers support without judgement. We all need those types of side characters in our lives. Those characters we know have a story all their own.

The villain that’s always out of reach is a constant shadow throughout the narrative. And some I thought were villains turned out not to be. They are all distinctly human.

I could rattle on, but I think you should just read the book instead of more review!

I enjoyed both audio narrators for the most part. My only qualm is the guy’s falsetto for all the woman, but that’s just a me thing!

So very good.

I absolutely loved this book and thought I had it figured out, then thrown through a loop - great read and great listen!

Great story, but...

I really enjoyed the storyline, but it really could have been condensed by half. It got to the point where I really wanted to give up and read the last chapter in the book. I stuck with it and still felt like I could have just skipped to the end.

Easily could’ve been….

A Bridge Between Us was the 2nd read by this Author and this book could have easily been a 3.5 star for me since the story was well written, but I gave it 3 stars for a few reasons.

One being I wasn’t a big fan of either characters. Specially Camila I thought her character was all over the place. One minute she’s trying to be this strong person the next she’s a complete doormat.
Ridge was to closed off for my liking that I never got a good read on him and he was way to easy going for my taste. I like a man to have some backbone and I didn’t get that vibe from Ridge at all.

Secondly when it came to there relationship it was one-sided with Camila putting all the effort in, while Ridge did nothing but walk away numerous times. I found it hard to believing his love for his Wild One when he had no problem walking away from her without a second thought. So needless to say I never really felt their love connection between the two of them…

Another reason was…I felt the author tried to hard to make Camila something that she wasn’t. I think K.K. Allen was aiming for this strong independent woman and when in reality she was the complete opposite.

On a positive note the story was entertaining, but I just don’t think me and Mrs Allen books are a good fit. Since I didn’t really care for Through the Lens either.
Would I recommend this book? Yes I would. Because everyone has a different point of view.

Audiobook review: 4-stars to Troy Duran and Sofia Willingham both did wonderful job narrating the story.
