Publisher's summary

4 Riverside Close is a compelling psychological thriller with a touch of mystery. If you are a fan of authors like Clare Mackintosh, Lisa Jewell and Lesley Kara, you'll love this unmissable debut.

How well do you know your neighbours? When residents of a North London cul-de-sac enrol in a seemingly innocent social network, they soon find themselves embroiled in a murky web of sinister manipulation and murder. From the outside, Caroline and Jason Swinton have an idyllic life. But when the cracks start to appear, the residents of Riverside Close are drawn into a dangerous game. When Jason’s body is discovered in a house on the close, everyone becomes a suspect.

Could his lovely wife be responsible for his murder? Or do the neighbours have a motive for wanting him dead?

As the secret lives of those living on the Close are gradually revealed, it becomes clear that someone is hiding something they will stop at nothing to protect....

Original premise

I enjoyed the story. My issue was with the narrator. She narrated for several women but didn’t even try to differentiate the voices. That made things confusing.

I'm glad I continued reading!

I was taken in by this book immediately then, I debated not finishing it because it started to slow and lose my interest. I'm so glad I stuck it out because it turned out to be really good and then, I couldn't put it down. This book really begs the question, how well do you know your neighbors? Not well enough, it would seem on some accounts yet everyone's life is intertwined. Then, there is that unnerving ending. Why, just why? I'm still recovering from that jaw-dropping bombshell. I could've guessed just about anything but I would've NEVER guessed that. Wow!

That was a struggle

It's rare when a book just bores me. This one did that superbly. It's a 4 hour lead up to what the summary makes you think is the good stuff. But even that was a struggle and the ending was disappointment. Like they got to that point and just decided that's where I'll put it.

Part of the problem is that narrator. I'm pretty sure it was straight monotone from start to finish.

This is the first one I've only given 2 stars to in a few years.
