John Calvin's sermons on Titus have not been printed in a new edition since 1574. In this edition they have been updated with modern spelling and typeface with notes for obscure words. Institutes of the Christian Religion is John Calvin's seminal work on Protestant systematic theology. The Necessity of Reforming the Church has been considered by many to be one of John Calvin's most important works. In this short letter, Calvin lays out his polemic for why the church must bring her beliefs and practices in line with scripture. Written to address the abuses and corruptions that occurred in the church during the Middle Ages, Calvin pastorally and forcefully addresses issues that carry into our present day.

In this sermon, John Calvin ascribes free will to all people in the sense that they act voluntarily, not by compulsion. He elaborated his position by allowing that man has choice, and that it is self-determined and that his actions stem from his own voluntary choosing.

John Calvin (1509-1564) was a theologian, pastor and reformer in Geneva during the Protestant Reformation. He was a principal figure in the development of the system of Christian theology later called Calvinism. This collection of prayers comes from his writings on the book of Hosea.
