Trouble returns to Cylvania as mysterious threats lurk on its borders and hidden conspiracies seek to undermine the new order of things. Celia is unwell, suffering from problems that Threadbare cannot understand, let alone fix. It is time once more for the little teddy bear to gather his party and venture forth, in hopes of saving the day.

Doctor Dire, now a full-fledged supervillain, returns to Icon City with two goals: Find her friends, and obtain enough money to afford the next part of her sinister master plan. Only thing is not everyone she cares about is so easily located, and she must contend with gangsters, shadowy intrigues from dubious employers, and rival supervillains. Oh, and heroes, too. Can't forget them, they're everywhere. From civil-minded super-speedsters to incompetent time-travelers, all of them want to see Dire brought down for her crimes.

Richard has escaped his oppressive government, fleeing to the safety of a peaceful country. But his online troubles are only growing worse. His war now includes not one, but two elder gods and at least one enigmatic artificial intelligence. His allies are few and out for themselves. It's on Rich and his draconic brother to solve the mystery of this game that isn't a game and figure out how to save a world. And perhaps they can save a god as well, if Konol can be reached in time....

Fortunately, he's got a voice now and access to all those fun skills he couldn't before use. He may only be a very small teddy bear, but he's got the persistence to plow through dungeons of rascally raccoon monsters, the wiles to turn a town full of undead on its ear, and the sanity to survive an encounter with a mediocre old one.

All Doctor Dire wants to do is save the world. But those pesky heroes keep getting in the way, and it's all she can do to give them a good fight without killing them. Supervillainy is such an underappreciated job these days....
