Edmond Moore Hamilton was a popular science-fiction authorduring the "Golden Age" of American science fiction."The Stars, My Brothers" is considered one of his best, and certainly most imaginative, stories. A spaceman is killed in space and frozen. He is left orbiting the space station where he was killed in the hope that a method will be found to bring him back to life. That day finally comes a hundred years later when he awakens to a very different world.

These two famous stories by Joseph Conrad are both told by the same narrator - Marlow. As the main character in Youth, Marlow tells the story of his first voyage to the East as second mate on board the Judea. Heart of Darkness features Marlow 22 years later and deals with maturity and old age. This highly symbolic story follows Marlow as he recounts his adventure into the Congo to a group of men aboard a ship anchored in the Thames Estuary.

H. P. Lovecraft was not a very popular writer during his lifetime but achieved posthumous fame through his influential works of horror fiction. Today he is widely acknowledged as one of the most significant 20th century authors in the genre of horror and the supernatureal. The title of this story came from an actual house in Providence, Rhode Island, Lovecraft's hometown. It was built around 1763 and still stands on Benefit Street. The story is a masterpiece of supernatural horror and was descripted by Robert Weinberg as "one of Lovecraft's best short novels."

Time Pawn first appeared in Thrilling Wonder Stories in June ,1954. Under pressure from his publishers, Dick expanded the story into a full length novel - Doctor Futurity. The original is an excellent story but most critics agree that the expanded version was not a success.
