Something revolutionary has begun. Starting with Gestalt and Cognitive theories, psychology began to take a new course and develop more effective ways of helping people think straight and deal with the challenges of life. However, something even more revolutionary has begun. Dr. Martin Seligman, a cognitive psychologist, has developed a psychology of wellness based on the virtues. His premise is that good mental health is founded on virtuous thinking and living.

In this talk, Catholic psychotherapist Suzanne Baars draws on the anthropology of St. Thomas Aquinas and the pioneering work of the late Catholic psychiatrists Conrad Baars and Anna Terruwe to illustrate the role of the emotions in assisting one’s spiritual growth.

Safe exercises for a person to work alone or with a grief partner are described. In these talks, Dr. Riley provides many helpful examples as well as an outline for personal use.
