Story

It set an example for us, just as the shooting star show us for a brief instance the beauty and glory of its existence. But just as we remember the beauty and magnificence of the shooting star long after ...

Story
By the time of his death, Wellington had been prime minister twice, a shrewd personal advisor to four British monarchs, and one of the nation's most prominent politicians for three decades. Despite his nearly four decades of peacetime service in and out of politics, Wellington has remained one of the titans of the 19th century because of one June day in 1815. Then, as now, the duke of Wellington is best remembered for defeating Napoleon in the famous battle of Waterloo.

Story
William Arthur Human was 22 years old and serving as a British soldier in India when war broke out in 1914. This is his story, in his own words, covering his first eight months on the Western Front and featuring the Battle of Neuve Chapelle. An extraordinarily vivid account that is heartfelt, captivating, and challenging in equal measure.

Story
On September 15, 1906, Arthur MacArthur, Jr. became the 12th man in the history of the United States Army to be awarded the rank of lieutenant general, the highest rank in the army up to that time. This great honor, which marked the culmination of MacArthur's brilliant military career, included him in the ranks of such outstanding American military leaders as George Washington, Ulysses S. Grant, and William Tecumseh Sherman, all of whom had previously held this rank. This biography reveals the remarkable career of this great patriot and his contribution to American history.

Story
Lieutenant Desmond L.S. Arthur was an Irish aviator in No.2 Squadron of the Royal Flying Corps. In the early morning of Tuesday, 27th of May, 1913...while flying over the Scottish North-East coastal town of Montrose, during a routine training flight from Upper Dysart to Lunan Bay, the right wing of his B.E.2 biplane No.205 suddenly collapsed due to a broken spar, which had hitherto remained unseen...as it had been concealed under the plane’s fabric...possibly on purpose. Lt. Arthur was the first Irishman to be killed in an aircraft accident.
