Story
L. Williams, in translating Giordano Bruno's Gli Eroici Furori (Heroic Enthusiasts) from the original Italian into English back in 1887 and 1889, has done a great service to humanity. His introduction is especially illuminating as it contextualizes Bruno's life until his tragic death at the age of 52 and provides us with a tantalizing glimpse into his cosmological philosophy. It is my hope that this small book, which is drawn exclusively from Williams' work, will serve as an intellectual appetizer and lead to a deeper plunge into Bruno's fascinating thought.

Story
This small book is mainly a personal record of my adventures and impressions during the first five months of the African War. It may also be found to give a tolerably coherent account of the operations conducted by Sir Redvers Buller for the Relief of Ladysmith. The correspondence of which it is mainly composed appeared in the columns of the Morning Post newspaper, and I propose, if I am not interrupted by the accidents of war, to continue the series of letters.

Story
I first learned of Errol Flynn’s life and work when by chance I happened upon his autobiography, My Wicked Wicked Ways, in audio format at the Huntington Beach Library some two decades ago. It was an exhilarating find as it is one of the funniest and most insightful books I have ever listened to in my life. In fact, it was so good that I got a copy of the book and read it cover to cover again, and I was even more mesmerized by Errol Flynn’s hilarious stories and pithy insights the second time around.

Story
This is a delightfully insightful overview of the life and work of Herbert Spencer, the famous evolutionist of the 19th century. Although Spencer's thought is not without controversy, he was nevertheless responsible for a number of important contributions, not the least of which is his coining of the term "survival of the fittest", which Charles Darwin (on the advice of Alfred Russel Wallace) used as a placeholder for his more generalistic term, "natural selection".

Story
This book is an abbreviated selection from the original 1910 book, The Master as I Saw Him, written by Bhagini ("Sister") Nivedita. Although there are now a number of newer publications of this classic (due to the fact it is now in the public domain), I thought it might be helpful to come out with an abbreviated edition, which focuses on the first quarter of the book. It is my hope that this short volume may serve as but an introductory glimpse into the life and work of one of the truly outstanding exponents of Indian philosophy and spirituality.

Story
Jaimal Singh is a fascinating Shabd Yoga adept, whose spiritual quest to unravel the secret of the five melodies is both deeply moving and legendary. How he finally came upon his guru Shiv Dayal Singh in Agra, India, in the mid-1850s borders on the unbelievable. But find him he did on that obscure back street, now famously known among satsangis worldwide as Panni Gali. Although we have salient details about Jaimal Singh’s life, there is much that remains unknown.

Here at the MSAC Philosophy Group, we felt it would be valuable to take a selection from Müller's autobiography, which focuses on his early days at the University of Oxford, and publish it in a separate volume. It is a delightfully engaging listen, and I think it serves as a nice introduction to the life and work of this most productive of Indian scholars. Professor David Christopher Lane has chosen and edited the selection. Also included is a brief introduction to the life and work of Max Müller, with a particular focus on his 50 or so years at Oxford.

Story
This is the first of a three-part series centering on my personal remembrance of Charan Singh (1916-1990), who was the spiritual leader of Radha Soami Satsang Beas from 1951 to 1990. As such, it isn’t a biography, but rather partial glimpses of my own recollection of how I came to know of Charan, and why I eventually took initiation from him into the meditational practice of Surat Shabd Yoga. I didn’t write this as a devotional eulogy to my deceased spiritual teacher, but more selfishly as a way for me to write down key moments of my association with him...for over four decades.

This is the fascinating and controversial autobiography of Annie Besant, who lived an extraordinary life where she played an outsized part in the history of India. She is most famous for her leadership of theosophy and her promotion of Krishnamurti as a world savior, but it is often forgotten that she was an early champion for women's rights, self-determination for India (she backed Gandhi's movement early on), and for Irish independence from British interference.
