Hosted by Norman Rose, "Dimension X" was one of radio's first adult science-fiction series and made its mark by adapting short stories by acknowledged masters in the field, including: Isaac Asimov, Robert Bloch, Ray Bradbury, Fredric Brown, Robert. A. Heinlein, Clifford D. Simak, Kurt Vonnegut, Jr., and William Tenn. Scriptwriters Ernest Kinoy and George Lefferts, who also contributed their own original scripts, adapted the stories.

Set in the lovely seacoast town of Marblehead, Massachusetts, Jerry and the Pirates is CRT's homage to the classic TV sitcoms of the 60s and 70s (complete with the ill-timed laugh track). Jerry Robbins stars as Jerry Davenport, a motion picture screenwriter who has left Hollywood for the quiet serenity of the craggy shores of the East Coast. Orson Welles' dramatic anthology series Mercury Theatre on the Air, infamous for its Halloween broadcast of War of the Worlds, found a sponsor and became Campbell Playhouse in December 1938. The program continued to feature the charismatic and fiery Welles as both a host and an actor. The great Lionel Barrymore portrayed Ebenezer Scrooge in Campbell Playhouse's annual performance of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens.
