What can two middle-aged British spinsters do about such matters? They can form a secret cabal right under Hitler’s nose and get to work saving lives. The sisters conspire to bring together worldwide opera aficionados and insiders in an international operation to rescue Jews in the opera from the horrific fate that everyone intuits is coming.

Frederick is freed of his indentures to the ferociously temperate Pirates of Penzance. What will he do with his newfound freedom?

Die Zauberflöte ist eine der bekanntesten Opern und ein zeitloses Meisterwerk. Schon Kinder pfeifen den „Vogelfänger” und die Rachearie der Königin mit ihren waghalsigen Koloraturen ist unvergesslich. Die Musik Mozarts gepaart mit Schikaneders märchenhaften Libretto sorgt – damals wie heute – für ein Erlebnis, dem man sich nicht entziehen kann. Doch wie war das noch gleich? Since this rock opera is based on my Baby Boomer generation, the war representing my father was of course WWII. Although my father fought in the South Pacific, this story is more symbolic by starring an American soldier in Europe. During this European theater of war, the soldiers socialized with the citizens of the countries they passed through and fought in. As a result, there were many babies born in Europe with an absent American father.

Desde suas origens, no século XVI, a ópera sempre foi uma paixão extravagante e cara. Para ilustrar os principais aspectos abordados, foram utilizados mais de 75 exemplos de trechos musicais.

Der wunderbare Schauspieler und Mensch Christoph Quest ist 2020 verstorben und bleibt unvergessen. 2008 hat er lyrische Texte des Wiener Autors und Komponisten Walter Baco interpretiert, die dieser nun mit eigener Musik als Hörbuch gestaltet hat.

Die Hochzeit des Figaro gilt als Höhepunkt der Oper und eines der größten Werke des Genies Mozart. Es begründet die Zusammenarbeit zweier Meister ihres Fachs: Des Komponisten Mozarts, mit dem Librettisten Lorenzo da Ponte. Die literarische Vorlage war ein Skandalstück, das den Autoren ins Gefängnis brachte, der Zensur zum Opfer fiel und überhaupt für Furore sorgte. Ludwig XVI urteilte: „Wenn ich dieses Stück genehmigen würde, müsste ich konsequenterweise gleich die Bastille einreißen.“
