CJ was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he fell in love with playing guitar and playing music with his brothers. His love of music led him to attend Belmont in Nashville, Tennessee, and has been pursuing music as a songwriter and an artist, ever since.  CJ has co-written two number ones as a songwriter, including his first number one, "Up Down," recorded by Morgan Wallen, and his second #1 , "Some Girls," by Jameson Rogers. 

    He has also written for other artists Jared Neiman, Jason Aldean and Justin Moore.  
    As an artist he has opened for acts such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, Gary Allan,  and Hank Williams Jr.
