  • Book Review from the Virtual Bookcase of Patrick Greenwood - Featuring Todd Hosea
    Jul 20 2023

This week on "writers on writers over a triple espresso podcast" we welcome US. Air Force Veteran and author, Todd Hosea. Todd will discussing his latest novel "Hunt the Reaper."

In Steal the Reaper, Captain Ava Tan pulled off the boldest heist in history, but her success has created a whole new set of problems. Escorting Prince Kypa and Dr. Neil Garrett to Aiwa has exposed the Reaper’s potential to the galaxy.

Now, the hunt is on to seize her ship. Ava and her crew must face enemies on multiple fronts. Whoever commands the Reaper will control the galaxy’s most powerful weapon and determine the fates of Earth and Aiwa.

    About Todd

I am a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. Back in the day, I served at NORAD and Air Force Space Command headquarters in Colorado Springs, and NAS Keflavik, Iceland. After leaving the service, I completed my undergraduate studies at Indiana University and also earned a masters degree in Organizational Leadership.

I was born and raised in Indianapolis, but spent many summers in Colorado. The mountains are my happy place. Currently, I live in southern Indiana with my family and our rescue dog, Lilly. My hobbies include biking, hiking and spectator sports, especially the Indy 500. The arts are another passion of mine. I love going to the theater productions, movies, and concerts. I listen to almost anything, from Duran Duran and the Rolling Stones to John Williams and John Barry. The Empire Strikes Back and Dances with Wolves are my favorite soundtracks. The first book I remember reading for enjoyment was The Omen by David Seltzer. I found it in the school library and couldn't put it down. After that, I read The Hunt for Red October and was hooked on techno-thrillers.

Tom Clancy and Michael Crichton were major influences. I'm also a self-proclaimed Star Wars geek (the original trilogy), so meshing the two genres for my debut novel, Steal the Reaper, felt very comfortable and was a lot of fun for me. Hope you enjoy it!

  • Book Review from the Virtual BookCase of Patrick Greenwood - Featuring Annie McDonald
    Jul 19 2023
This week on the "book review from the virtual bookcase of Patrick Greenwood," I had the chance to read "Finding Fault" by Annie McDonald.  This week on the "Writers on Writers over a triple espresso podcast" , I will doing a book review from the wonderful and incredible author, Annie McDonalds latest novel "Finding Fault." About the Novel Two immutable forces are destined to clash in the Canadian prairies. Dr. Evie O’Halloran is a geologist and a lifelong environmental activist. Her current focus is one of Saskatchewan’s chemical manufacturers, Farmexal, whose toxic products have been mysteriously showing up in local farmers’ fields. Merritt Shepherd, an investigator with the Ministry of Environmental Resources committed to changing environmental policy, is undercover at Farmexal in the middle of a potentially catastrophic situation and directly in Evie’s sights. Evie and Merritt have radically different ideas on preventing environmental disaster, and neither is looking for love. Evie is struggling to manage her PTSD, and, as an undercover investigator, Merritt risks upending her case if she shares the truth with Evie. But when they develop an attraction stronger than they’ve ever known, Evie and Merritt must risk their hearts to save their love and the environment. About the Writer Annie McDonald is a proud Canadian who is insatiably curious about the world. Writing has always nipped at her heels, but it was only at the halfway point of life that she decided to put a collar on it. Her first novel, Where We Are (Bold Strokes Books, 2019) is set in the foothills of the Rockies in Alberta. Her second, When Sparks Fly (Bold Strokes Books, 2020) takes place in and around Winnipeg, Manitoba. It was a finalist for the 2021 Golden Crown Literary Society's Short Romance of the Year award. Now, her goal is to complete a novel set in each of Canada’s provinces and territories. Finding Fault (November 2022) is set in Saskatchewan. Can environmental activist Dr. Evie O’Halloran and government investigator Merritt Shepherd set aside their conflicting ideas about saving the planet and risk their hearts enough to save their love?
