    Jun 3 2024

Welcome to the transformational podcast. A conversation between brothers about practical ways faith is impacting our lives. We invite you to join us on this journey as we are learning to let faith transform the way we live. Romans 12:2

Chris tells us about his trip with his son, and the monster fish they caught. This was not just a trip for his son's 13th birthday, but an opportunity to talk about what it means to own your faith. Chris came prepared to talk about 7 things to live by for the trip, and we only get through two of them. :-)

The 7 Things: 1) Put God First 2) There is a real enemy and a real helper 3) Be a person of integrity 4) Be humble 5) Value hard work 6) Purity 7) Be Holy/Set Apart

First, we discuss what it means to put God first, because as Chris explains, this is the most important. Everything Chris intends to discuss builds on this principle. Matt 6:19-33 describe what it looks like to seek God first, and in Matt 22:37-40 Jesus instructs us to love God and love others.

Second, we discuss what it means to have a real enemy and a real helper. Chris takes us through a series of verses to spawn discussion with his sone. Some of the verses we cover is Eph 6:10, I Peter 5:8, Phil 2:13, and Acts 1:8. The bottom line is that we have an enemy that requires us to put armor one, and we have a helper in the Holy Spirit that is working in and through you.

It is a great conversation with lots of practical application that we did not finish, but will continue in our next podcast.

  • Ep 38: Ultimate Underdog Story
    May 27 2024

Welcome to the transformational podcast. A conversation between brothers about practical ways faith is impacting our lives. We invite you to join us on this journey as we are learning to let faith transform the way we live. Romans 12:2

This week Chris and I discuss the story of Jonathan and his armor bearer, and the faith they demonstrated by actively serving God. In I Samuel 14:6, Jonathan says to his armor bearer, "Come, let's go over to the outpost of those uncircumcised fellows. Perhaps the Lord will act in our behalf. Nothing can hinder the Lord from saving, whether by many or by few." Now that is faith in action!

With no real expectation of winning the war, Jonathan and his armor bearer with the help of God put the entire Philistine army on the run. They had the courage to step out in faith with the expectation that God would act.

The battle for us starts before we leave the house. Sometimes that battle is proceeded by adversity as you put yourself out there and the enemy starts to notice. Sometimes we have to wait a little longer than we want. The important thing to remember is that we, like Jonathan, need to proactively seek what God calls us to do by stepping out into "perhaps".

  • Ep 37: Who Do You Listen To?
    May 20 2024

Welcome to the transformational podcast. A conversation between brothers about practical ways faith is impacting our lives. We invite you to join us on this journey as we are learning to let faith transform the way we live. Romans 12:2

This week we pickup where we left off when we talked about King Solomon, and discussed his son Rehoboam. After the death of King Solomon, his son Rehoboam stepped into power and listened to bad advice. In fact, Rehoboam had good advice from his father's advisors, but he rejected the advice of the older generation for the advice of his friends. This proved to be the end of his kingdom. This was declared by God, but his rejection of good advice should be a lesson for everyone.

The question is, who have you given permission to speak into your life? Do you build relationships with people who are ahead of you? Proverbs 13:20 says, "Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm." Practically, we should find someone who can tell us to take a step back. Someone that makes time for us as we make time for them and that we stop to listen to.

  • Ep 36: Best Request
    May 13 2024

Welcome to the transformational podcast. A conversation between brothers about practical ways faith is impacting our lives. We invite you to join us on this journey as we are learning to let faith transform the way we live. Romans 12:2

Robert starts the podcast off with what God has been showing him about his God given identity. Then he takes a few mins to discuss his observation of the anointing of King Saul in 1 Samuel, and how it was pretty clear Saul did not understand his God given identity.

Then Chris takes us through a quick study of King Solomon beginning in 1 Kings 3 all the way through 1 Kings 11. King Solomon prayed for wisdom to lead God's people well, and God gave him both wisdom and wealth. King Solomon's prayer was an act of humility, and his obedience early on lead to blessing. Unfortunately, Solomon turned away from obedience and brought God's judgment on his children.

In the end, our best request is for God's wisdom.

  • Ep 35: God Given Identity
    May 6 2024

Welcome to the transformational podcast. A conversation between brothers about practical ways faith is impacting our lives. We invite you to join us on this journey as we are learning to let faith transform the way we live. Romans 12:2

Have you ever asked God what he calls you? Chris and I discuss what can happen when you fully understand your identity in Christ. When you know what God calls you, you will begin to do life differently. Satan attacks your identity, because God works through your identity.

So how can you learn what God calls you? Learn from others, learn from books, and learn from podcasts. Ask yourself "what are all the things that you think people say about you that are not true?" and then ask about all the things someone who loves you would say about you. Now you are getting close to your identity!

We hope that as Chris discusses his journey of discovering what God calls him, you will be able to learn the same thing about yourself.

  • Ep 34: Don't Buy the Fake
    Apr 29 2024

Welcome to the transformational podcast. A conversation between brothers about practical ways faith is impacting our lives. We invite you to join us on this journey as we are learning to let faith transform the way we live. Romans 12:2

Last week we had a technical glitch that prevented us from posting a video, so this week we are glad to be able to post our video.

In this episode, Chris gives us an update on his house journey, and how he has committed to continue to focus on the last thing God told him to do. In this case, God has not told he and Julie to move yet.

Then in Luke 22:30-46, Robert and Chris discuss Jesus's admonition to the disciples to "Pray that you don't fall into temptation." What an interesting command considering Jesus knew that they were about to walk through some of the darkest hours on earth. Jesus knew they were going to fall into temptation, but he also knew that they were meant to be the foundation of the church.

So if you are going to "pray that you don't fall into temptation", what should you pray for? Ask for wisdom. Ask for protection from satan. Don't buy the fake!

  • Ep 33: A Good Aroma
    Apr 22 2024

Welcome to the transformational podcast. A conversation between brothers about practical ways faith is impacting our lives. We invite you to join us on this journey as we are learning to let faith transform the way we live. Romans 12:2

2 Corinthians 2:15-17 talks about being a "sweet aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved...", and Chris and I take some time to discuss what that means. We talk about how disciples of Jesus have a fragrance of life and to those who do not follow Jesus an odor of death.

Why is that so? How can we take a spiritual shower? How do make sure we are a sweet aroma for Christ? The answer is that we a learn to be thankful to God for what he has done.
