    Chinese President Xi Jinping met German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Tuesday, calling for a "long-term" and "strategic" approach to ties between the world's second- and third-largest economies amid rising geopolitical tensions and spiraling conflicts.

    Xi told Scholz that as the Nos. 2 and 3 economies, "the significance of consolidating and developing China-Germany relations transcends the scope of bilateral relations and has an important impact on the Asian and European continents as well as the entire world," according to Chinese state media.
