The EstoBro TV Podcast

By: 99th Avenue Productions
  • Summary

  • When two friends met in college, they discussed their favorite subjects over drinks on a college campus in Florida. It only took them an entire decade later to record said conversations and turn them into a podcast. The show features Matty EstoBro and Theo "TV" Vlass discussing subjects on current events, nerd culture, music, sports, and many other parodies that have been enhanced even further by the internet. Their little passion project has been supported by friends, family, and all faces of life who have helped shape this program into what it is today. New episodes are featured weekly, and you can follow along with the show on any popular social media platform.

TV asks EstoBro how he played at TPC Scottsdale after visiting the golf course and resort for his 'birthday trip.' With TV's birthday being celebrated upon release of the latest episode, the Gents dedicate focusing on a sports edition for the week. Starting with the results of the NBA Playoffs so far (16:00), the pair decipher the conference title games and who is destined to face each other in the NBA Finals; they also bring some attention to the same stage of the Stanley Cup Playoffs as well (30:35). With the Gents talking about golf for their birthdays, they also talk about the crazy weekend that took place during the PGA Championship (35:50); which includes the arrest of the latest Master's champion, Scottie Scheffler. Before the time of recording, the Gents had to celebrate the undefeated streak German football club Bayer Leverkusen was on before they lost the Europa final to Atalanta yesterday (48:15). The club set a brand-new European record going unbeaten in 51 matches throughout all competition. With time still left on the show, EstoBro reflects with a 'Who has the munchies?' segment while delivering In-N-Out Burger to Mandy Hatake while they were visiting Arizona (57:35).

  • Kingdom of the Thousand Year Door
    May 16 2024

The Gents deliver a brand new episode in time for birthday season for the hosts, as the pair share their excitement of playing a round of golf in remote locations for their upcoming birthdays (2:30). The latest edition of the podcast is a fully tailored nerd report, first setting off with the hyped release of Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door being remastered for its 20th anniversary on the Nintendo Switch (14:15). With great pomp and circumstance to this celebrated series, the Gent wonder why Nintendo had Paper Mario miss the cut in the Smash Bros. franchise and give the character its flowers for the segment 'Smash Injustice.' Turning the attention to the latest in the anime scene (28:30), TV is thrilled for the newest season of Demon Slayer. At the same time, EstoBro brings attention to the new show Kaiju No. 8 gaining major momentum as the popular manga is in its initial anime run. EstoBro highlights a new Star Wars show that is featured on Disney+ as the pair return some attention to the franchise they did not get a chance to do for May the 4th (39:25), and with sci-fi as the focus, they also celebrate the latest installment of the Planet of the Apes franchise debuting at number one in the box office last weekend (54:30).

  • Back in the New York Groove
    May 9 2024

After a temporary hiatus, the Gents are officially back to present their first episode of May. EstoBro opens the show by speaking on the results of the 150th running of the Kentucky Derby (4:15) coincidentally falling on the same nerd holiday of May the 4th which honors Star Wars Day. With Mystic Dan winning the day, even TV mentions that the horse was 'one with the Force.' The Gents turn to current events in pop culture with the latest hip-hop beef between Kendrick Lamar and Drake (9:30). TV has seen both of these artists live, as he weighs in the details and tracked history between these two music talents. The entire internet has had its attention on the diss tracks between the two camps, and can easily be considered the best feud for the genre since the Westcoast vs Eastcoast feud of the 1990s. With the Gents back in their 'New York Groove' during the Met Gala, they have some fashion to put into the spotlight with the reveal of the Tampa Bay Rays revealing their City Connect jerseys (24:40). These special baseball jerseys have been used by MLB teams in recent years, but the Rays revealing theirs has truly turned the heads of baseball fans everywhere. The Gents give major kudos to the local team for curating a jersey that truly captures the essence of Rays fans, as they lightly touch on the latest sports headlines with the NBA and Stanley Cup playoffs. In nerd news, EstoBro has to put TV on the latest release from Disney+ with X-Men '97 (42:20), which is a continuation of the animated show that was popular during the 1990s. With the speculation of the MCU spiraling, the Gents both agree that this animated show is the lifeline the comic book studio needs before the next slough of live-action films set to be released. EstoBro even highlights the small news Nintendo dropped earlier in the week that they plan on teasing their successor gaming system after the Nintendo Switch later this year. TV has been reading an interesting book called The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck (59:00), which prompts EstoBro to curate a new segment for the show where the pair search back to their roots and take the title for granted. The Gents are happy to be back and thank their listeners for being patient, as they look to release new episodes of the EstoBro TV Podcast.
