He ran his political opponent into the ground, but later he ran into heavy traffic on his way to the meeting, the meeting started without him, he had run out of time.

    Example 2
    Two parties went to two separate parties, both parties partied until they could not party anymore. In fact when both parties were over, both parties were partied out.
