  • Taking on the Global Food Crisis by Solving Hunger and Malnutrition - Neel Ghose, Robin Hood Army
    Jun 12 2024

Global agricultural systems produce around 4 million metric tonnes of food every year, more than enough to feed 10 billion people. So why does hunger and malnutrition still exist? Today, 795 million people are hungry. Another 2 billion are expected to join them by 2050. Could it be that global food production is incredibly inefficient or is our inability to feed the entirely of the world’s population stemming from excess? And where does all of the extra food go? Mostly, in our bins. Every day, enormous quantities of food are thrown away, while too many go to sleep without having eaten a single meal. This paradox of abundance vs shortage is a created problem, one that can be solved if we make use of local resources, divert surplus to the hands with nothing and improve community resilience. The idea of a zero-fund volunteer-driven nonprofit organisation began to improve food access to those who need it most. In this episode of Sustainable Tea with Shreya, co-founder of @RobinHoodArmy. , Neel Ghose and @SustainableTeaWithShreya discuss how hunger is more than missing a meal and that has the less fortunate in its grip, why the NGO won’t accept money, the purpose behind the altruistic work they do, and how they developed a humanitarian network of good samaritans in India and across the world to solve the global hunger crisis.

  • Leaving Behind Everything with No Way Back Home - Refugee and Human Rights Activist Chantale Zuzi
    Jun 5 2024

Imagine being forced to flee your home by violence and tragedy, leaving behind everything you know and love. Families torn apart and life once known becoming a distant memory. This is the human story of countless refugees. The kind that statistics and numbers don’t do justice to. One of tragedy, loss and struggle—a constant battle against uncertainty. Living in unsanitary conditions, going from camp to camp where basic needs like food, water, and shelter are daily struggles. Women and children, especially prone to increased abuse and risks in this vulnerable environment. Grappling with the loss of identity and starting anew in unfamiliar lands. Facing ignorance and biases, led by the lens of fear. Navigating systemic hurdles in seeking asylum, delays that can be a matter of life and death. Yet despite these grave hardships, these human stories speak of resilience and hope. And deserve our attention, solidarity, humanity and support.
