Interesting story marred by amateur voice acting

I truly wish that authors had the good sense (or is it budget?) to hire professional voice actors. The topic and story are very interesting, but I had to give up after just a few episodes because the author decided to read the work herself and her untrained, amateurish reading made it impossible for me to interact with the material.

Good Story

Interesting and good story. I was distracted by the authors Texas accent. I could tell she was reading instead of telling a story. Maybe it was budget issues but the podcast would have been better with a trained English accent storyteller.

Medieval History Fan's Delight

Emma is one of those fascinating women of history who is constantly overlooked in favor of the famous men of her time. This podcast, while historical fiction, casts a light on her-story. Enjoyable and interesting series.

Interesting story, wrong narrator!

The story of Emma of Normandy is amazing but the narrator here is distinctly Southern and her accent is super distracting. I couldn’t escape into the story because the voice kept jolting me back. I couldn’t finish.
