In cultures around the world, children need to be parented with gentleness, humor, love, and respect. Although Teresa grew up in a family with its roots in northern India, her thoughts and feelings are not much different from those of other Adult Children.

Please excuse the audio quality on my end of this interview. I had internet problems, but if you’ve listened before, you know the questions, and can get the gist from Teresa’s articulate answers.

  • Scotty Part 2
    Feb 21 2022

Welcome to Part 2 of my interview with Scotty, in which we discuss important tools of recovery and reparenting our trauma.

Here are a few terms you might want to have defined more explicitly than we did in the interview:

Limbic Impairment- The limbic system is the part of the brain containing the organs which interpret the input our brains receive. It is believed this is where emotions are generated based on those interpretations. For a more complete description, go to

Annie Hopper explains limbic system impairment disorders | Limbic Retraining

Dorsal Collapse-Refers to a shut-down of the complete nervous system, either partially or fully. It is triggered by the dorsal (or back) branch of the vagus nerve, and is commonly called a “freeze” stress response, associated with trauma and/or shame. For more into go to:

Anatomy of a Freeze – Or Dorsal Vagal Shutdown — Center for Healing Shame

Neuron or Neural Pathway- Connections between many nerves forming a chain or path through which information travels. They may occur between parts of the brain or between other parts of the body and the brain. They are generally formed by repeated similar stimulation. For more info see:

Neural Pathways | What Are They?, How, Types, Dysfunction

I think you’re in for a treat. The next two episodes feature a reparenting sojourner who’s been on the path since he was 17. Scotty is making sense of his recovery work through a study of neuroscience. You may want to take notes on some terms to look up later. I hope you’ll learn as much as I have.

  • Self-Esteem-How to Get It, How to Keep It
    Feb 8 2022

Building on the previous episode about self-esteem, I get a bat and glove to help me send negative messages flying, and catch positive messages and keep them. I don’t accept negative messages, and I breathe in and believe the positive ones.

i have some exciting news to share: the Loving Parent Podcast website is up and running. Soon you’ll be able to order books there, leave comments, and volunteer to be interviewed.

    Go to www.LovingParentPodcast.com

And in the meantime, if you’d like to share what you’ve learned about reparenting trauma in an interview, send me an email at

lovingparentpodcast@gmail.com I look forward to hearing from you😊
