• The Love of Art: Klara Kristalova ♡ Women Surrealists
    May 28 2024

Klara Kristalova constructs an odd yet familiar world, inhabited by figures evoking rawness, vulnerability, and humanity. The landscape, though not directly represented, is an essential component of Klara Kristalova’s universe, inferred in fragments from the drawings, ceramics, and bronzes that populate the dark and mysterious exhibitions she has unveiled in recent years.

In this episode, she talks about several surrealists’ women.

In The Love of Art podcast, artists are invited to speak about other artists that fascinate them (musicians, writers, filmmakers, actors, designers…) in a very personal way.

  • The Love of Art: Gabriel de la Mora ♡ Mark Rothko
    Apr 9 2024

Gabriel de la Mora's works are made from found, discarded, and obsolete objects. In an obsessive process of collecting and fragmenting materials the Mexican artist creates seemingly minimal surfaces that belie great technical complexity, conceptual rigor, and embedded information.

In this episode, Gabriel de la Mora talks about the legendary abstract painter Mark Rothko.

In The Love of Art podcast, artists are invited to speak about other artists that fascinate them (musicians, writers, filmmakers, actors, designers…) in a very personal way.

  • The Love of Art: Emma Webster ♡ Frederic Church
    Dec 8 2023

Emma Webster’s landscape paintings teleport viewers into the otherworldly. The places she depicts, convincing and hallucinatory, merge spatial expectations with mystifying fantasy. As a twenty-first century landscape painter, she subverts convention. She is nevertheless a dedicated student of the Masters. In this episode, Emma Webster talks about one of the most prominent American Romantic landscape painters, Frederic Church.

  • The Love of Art: Pieter Vermeersch ♡ Andy Warhol
    Jun 18 2023

Painter and sculptor Pieter Vermeersch is based between Belgium and Italy. Since several decades, his practice has explored states of in-between-ness: his work glides between aesthetic and conceptual opposites: ephemeral and concrete; emptiness and architecture; subjective perception and observable reality. His exhibitions are ingenious systems of perception which put into practice the divisions of time and space.

In this episode, Pieter Vermeersch talks about the leading figure of pop art movement Andy Warhol. Enjoy!

  • The Love of Art: Susumu Kamijo ♡ Sayaka Murata
    Apr 19 2023

Born in Nagano, Japan, Susumu Kamijo has lived and worked in New York for more than 20 years. Influenced by Francis Bacon and Willem de Kooning, his paintings of poodles quickly attracted significant attention. In his work, the poodle becomes a clever device, a motif reminding us that Kamijo’s subject is first and foremost painting itself. In a playfully meditative style, his work continues to develop in a way that surprises, provokes, and transforms our ways of seeing.

In this episode, Susumu talks about Japanese writer Sayaka Murata, one of contemporary Japanese literature’s most striking prose stylists.

In The Love of Art podcast, artists are invited to speak about other artists that fascinate them (musicians, writers, filmmakers, actors, designers…) in a very personal way.
