Whether you're in the medical field, live with a healthcare worker, or broke your arm once and are still paying off your medical bills, this is a must-listen. Join Will and Kristin Flanary (aka the Glaucomfleckens) for candid chats with leading healthcare voices like Dr. Mike and Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy. We'll share our own perspectives of being a patient or family member experiencing the healthcare system. And, of course, we explore the question on everyone's minds: "Why has Dr. Glaucomflecken never had his eyes dilated?" • Glauc Talk: Honoring the Legacy of First Descents Founder Ryan O’Donoghue
    Jun 17 2025
We thought we were just going kayaking with a group of young adults facing cancer and chronic illness. What we didn’t expect was how much First Descents—and its late CEO Ryan O’Donoghue—would completely reshape the way we think about healing, connection, and purpose. This week, we’re reflecting on that powerful experience and the legacy Ryan left behind. Also: I get dragged into a dating game scenario, and we talk about how being on call might just be the worst setup for a first date. Ever. Takeaways: A behind-the-scenes look at our week with First Descents—and how it cracked us open. The incredible impact of Ryan O’Donoghue and why his sudden death hit so hard. What it feels like to watch people reclaim joy after trauma. A wildly uncomfortable dating game moment you don’t want to miss. Why being on call is the ultimate romance killer. — To Get Tickets to Wife & Death: You can visit Glaucomflecken.com/live We want to hear YOUR stories (and medical puns)! • Knock Knock Eye: Consulting Ophthalmology: A Survival Guide
    Jun 12 2025
Let’s get one thing out of the way: I’m not mad you called me at 2 a.m. about an eye. Really, I’m not. But also… were they just missing their glasses? This week, I’m tackling everything that drives ophthalmologists crazy—and how to avoid becoming that story we tell over drinks. From wild consults and missing visual acuity checks to what actually makes an emergency worth a call, I’m handing you the crash course med school never gave you. Plus: a retina saga, a hot muffler, and why I’ll never be a 5:30 a.m. gym person. Ever. Takeaways: If you’re consulting ophthalmology, at least check vision. Please. I’m begging you. No, we don’t expect you to do a full fundus exam—but we do expect you to ask if they’ve had recent eye surgery. Not all double vision is created equal. Ask if it goes away when they cover one eye. My most frustrating consult? I was called in… to put a patient’s glasses on. In the community, y’all are way more self-sufficient than I ever gave you credit for in residency. — To Get Tickets to Wife & Death: You can visit Glaucomflecken.com/live We want to hear YOUR stories (and medical puns)! • Glauc Talk: A New Color Just Dropped
    Jun 10 2025
In this episode, Kristin shares what it felt like to take the stage for a major speaking event—and all the nerves, insights, and surprising audience connections that came with it. We also dive into some brain-bending eye science about tetrachromacy (a potential new color?!) and, of course, take a moment to roast the absolute rollercoaster of comments we get on YouTube. Spoiler: some are heartfelt, some are hilarious, and some definitely make us question our entire internet presence. Takeaways: Kristin reflects on the vulnerability and connection of live storytelling. We explore the concept of tetrachromacy and color perception. Eye science gets weird—in the best way. The YouTube comment section strikes again. Kristin contemplates balancing performance with authenticity. — To Get Tickets to Wife & Death: You can visit Glaucomflecken.com/live We want to hear YOUR stories (and medical puns)! There are a lot of medical influencers out there but Dr. Glauc is the best. Episodes are interesting and informative, with a good balance of serious and lighthearted conversations and topics. The levity and the love of medicine really shines and is so needed in this time of the moral depravity of corporate healthcare, insurance tyranny, and private equity nastiness.

I can't say enough good things about this podcast. I've been following Dr. G for a while but deleted my YouTube account, so I am glad I can continue to listen on Audible! Listening to the silly banter between Dr. G and Lady G at the beginning of the episodes is very sweet and comforting. I love the solo episodes and the ones with guests. Highly recommend 10/10!

my favorite medical (comedy) podcast!
