What was it that made Eve believe she would be better off in some mythical existence beyond what God had planned for them in the garden of Eden? did she eventually find what she was searching for?. Eve's desires were beyond the level of her present needs dictated by her circumstances and her supply in God. Jesus used that analogy in the parable of the prodigal son. Unfortunately, the same forces which drive the myth of the 'greener grass' demonstrated by Eve and the prodigal Son, continues to gnaw at us today and the failure to control those impulses is responsible for many of the heart aches, harmful and self-destructive actions in human society. In this episode I discuss contentment in life, our ability to be satisfied with the present while still embracing God's plan for tomorrow without anxiety and worry.

S04E13: God's Solution to Loneliness

A recent report by the US Dept of Health and Human Services, drew attention to the epidemic of loneliness prevalent in the US, affecting 1 in 2 people across most demographics. This is collaborated by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) as well. Loneliness has a wide ranging devastating health effect, described as being comparable to the effects of smoking 15 cigarettes a day. The question is why do we experience loneliness in spite of the boom in social media and technology? and what should be do about it? Since both Adam and Jesus experienced loneliness at certain points in their lives, loneliness must be a vulnerability in human nature, so God must have a fix. In this episode I discuss God's fix for loneliness and how we can take advantage of God's offer for a solution.

S04E11: Generosity: Blessed to be a Blessing

When Peter lent Jesus his boat on Lake Genesaret to preach to the multitudes, Jesus responded to Peter's kindness with an act of generosity. After Peter obeyed Jesus's command to launch into the deep and let down his net for a catch, it resulted in a massive haul of fish. However, he faced a choice as often happens to us all, to either keep it all to himself or share the bounty. He chose to share, and there was enough to spare, in fact, there was more than enough for him and his fishing partners. God's blessings and generosity towards us is always more than enough, it always has room to spare because he expects us to be a blessing. In this episode, I discuss the dynamics of generosity and how it is a vital part of our walk with God.

S04E09: The Alabaster Box: Responding to Extravagant Love

The characters in the Easter story remind us of the role of women in Jesus's ministry and in God's plan of salvation as a whole, beginning with Eve in the garden of Eden. At Easter, it took a woman with an Alabaster Box of very expensive perfume to show us how to respond to God's extravagant Love for humanity, which would be demonstrated in the ultimate sacrifice Jesus made, to pay the price of our Salvation. Her singular act of inexplicable love and devotion a week to the crucifixion of Jesus has memorialized her for eternity. In this episode, I discuss how the woman with the Alabaster box sets an example of how to respond to God's extravagant love for us.

S04E07: Embracing God's Grace

Do we sometimes fall into the trap of being transactional with God, expecting a certain measure of reward for a measure of service? When this occurs, it usually stems from a sense of entitlement and blindness to the very essence and meaning of God's grace. In this episode I discuss how Jesus used the parable of the Landowner and his laborers to teach us a vital lesson of grace and why we should never try to be transactional with God.

Sometimes we wonder why Jesus went looking for Figs on a tree when it wasn't yet the time for Figs. What was it that attracted Jesus to this particular Fig tree and was it right that he ended up cursing the tree when he found nothing but leaves? These are some of the questions I address in this episode. I also discuss the broader implications of this miracle of cursing of the Fig tree to our faith as Christians.
