Nathalie Dupree's Two Ingredient Perfect Biscuit Recipe - We, at Food And Travel Nation hate to admit, we are biscuit-challenged. This week, the diva of southern cooking, Nathalie Dupree, taught us how to make biscuits with two ingredients. That's right, TWO ingredients.

Nathalie Dupree is the author of ten cookbooks, eight of which are hard backs, selling over half a million copies, and host of three hundred television shows, which have aired on PBS, The Learning Channel and The Food Network for over fifteen years.

Nathalie, as she is known to her fans, has won innumerable awards for her work, including two James Beard Awards. She is most famous for her approachability and understanding of Southern cooking. Nathalie started the New Southern Cooking movement now found in many restaurants throughout the South.

She has been Chef of three restaurants, one in Majorca, Spain, one in Social Circle, Georgia, and one in Richmond, Virginia. Nathalie was the Director of Rich’s Cooking School, a full participation cooking school in Atlanta, and stopped counting at 10,000 students. Numerous students of hers now own restaurants, catering or other food businesses, and have written their own cookbooks.

Let's get into the Food And Travel Nation "time machine" and go back to 2014. The Vermont legislature passed the first mandatory GMO labeling law. The food industry obviously did NOT want to disclose that information and fought back hard with lots of negative advertising. Similar proposals promptly failed at the ballot box in both Washington State and California. Polls showed that despite those defeats, upwards of 90% of Americans wanted accurate labeling on their food products and over 50% said they would not purchase genetically modified foods. It would be an understatement to say that behind the scenes, agribusiness was freaking out and turned to the US Congress for help. The 2016 congressional and presidential election was just a few months away, and congress was forced to do something quickly. So they passed, and President Obama quietly signed the "National Bioengineered Food Disclosure Standard" mandating the accurate labeling of foods. (and killing Vermont's law in the process!) Since then, the USDA has had over two YEARS to implement the law and of course, create the GMO logo that would be placed on GMO foods.

So here we are. It's mid 2019, deadlines have been missed and lawsuits have been filed. Instead of celebrating that consumers finally know whether their foods have been genetically modified, it looks like the USDA is acting to protect agribusiness instead. Instead of true, accurate labeling it seems the USDA is bending over backwards to protect the interest of agribusiness. The delays continue as agribusiness fights the process, meanwhile the graphic artists created this ridiculous label. The familiar (and dreaded) GMO name has been changed to "bio-engineered" which sounds so much friendlier and less dangerous to your health

Imagine pork without the pig—Elizabeth shares the groundbreaking news of how entrepreneurs and mad scientists are integrating pig genes into soybeans. Once again, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) have FAILED you... the consumer!

What we are seeing in the food industry right now is EXACTLY the same game plan used to introduce new pharmaceuticals... by the same culprits!

If you've listened to this show, you'll know that the parent company of the giant pharmaceutical companies, also own the leaders in the food production industry. The companies that produce food, are sister companies to the pharmaceuticals.

So in a nutshell, here's how it works. A food-related product (no matter how far-fetched such as pig genes inserted into soybeans) is created in a laboratory. A report is filed with the USDA and the FDA stating that it's not thought to be dangerous to humans, and the government rubber stamps the application. The product is put on the grocery shelves, and THEN the long-term human feeding studies begin. People are buying and consuming these GMO products that have NOT been properly tested! It's corporate America's version of "asking for forgiveness instead of permission." In the meantime, the drug companies always have a pill or a jab for the dis-ease caused by the unsafe and untested food product. Do you understand the depth of the corruption and corporate greed at YOUR expense? These mega corporations would rather settle lawsuits rather with victims than spend the money on research and development. This HAS to stop.

Do these names sound familiar? They should! All 10 were approved by the FDA and released to the public. The company raked in millions of dollars and then it was discovered these drugs were not safe and they were removed from the market.
