The podcast I've been looking for!
Why listen to true crime when disaster is so much more interesting? I started looking for someone who covers industrial disasters and accidents after listening to my wife's true crime podcasts; they're interesting but not really my cup of tea. Engineering Misjudgements scratches that itch. The episodes are well researched but not overly dramatic She explains the driving engineering concepts behind the accidents, and she explains how they can be avoided. in addition to this, the shorter "Alphabet Soup" episodes do a nice job of explaining organizations like the CSB and their role in these disasters.
The episodes could be a bit longer, maybe covering the social aspect of the disaster or the company as appropriate. She mentions herself that so much history is taught without context, and while that might not be directly related to the disaster, I think it would still add a missing element to the episodes. For example, she mentions that the sugar empire that is Imperial Sugar was built by enslaved people, so maybe extend the research to include those details.
