Day 1 - Biggest Decision

  • Summary

  • Nice, starting a new life in my world. Have not done it in a while, I wonder if I meet my past self? Huh, that'll be fun. Eh, we’ll see. Let me start where I always do. Here I am, sitting in my most favourite place in the world, laying down underneath a rain tree, hands behind my head looking at the sun twinkling between the gaps of the leaves. Breathing in and out, deeply. I know what you’re wondering about, what is a rain tree? It’s just the coolest tree in the world! Both figurative and literal. Its trunk has the same shape and sturdiness of an oak tree, with massive but sensitive roots coming out of the ground, perfect for sitting if you want shade in the afternoons. But the best part of this beautiful life, is the leaves, an evergreen with a boat like shape, every leaf almost looks like a pistachio shell sticking out of it’s branches, with the purpose to collect dew over night and spray them during the hot mid day sun, when a gust flies by, ruffling the leaves side to side, moistening the sensitive roots and the soil. Not only that, it helps the plants who loves the shade and needs constant water healthy underneath it, with one special kind that drives off pests, being a prominent customer under the tree’s helping hand. If you’re lucky, you’ll see it do its magic. Like what I’m trying to do before I start my adventure. I touched its rough bark and used it to prop myself up, grunting then stretching as I looked up. As if I was the maker of this world, the wind flew by perfectly timed, swaying the leaves and releasing its fresh water contents. It felt like a quick light shower only lasting for a few seconds but it was beautiful, some of the droplets flew with the breeze, reflecting the sun, separating its colours. I love this tree. Hmm. Now what? I don’t have any schedule to uphold, I’m a free man, I can do anything I want. Let’s Dirk Gently this and just walk I guess. I looked to my left and right, choosing which path to take. This might the biggest decision I'll make this lifetime, to my left, amongst the trees hid a makeshift shelter, it looks all survival like, made with bended wood, mud and straw. Weather has not been too kind to it, I can see a make shift farm filled with wilted plants organised in rows. I looked to my right and I see a dark forest, ominous fog and crunching sounds echoes behind it, with high pitched singing from the wildlife, slowly fading the more I focus on it. Creepy... I checked the pants I was wearing, mottled green and brown prints overwhelmed my cringing brain. Since when do I wear camouflage pants? I rolled my eyes and looked to the sky, shook my head and made a mental plan to replace this as soon as I can. I checked my pockets and try to feel for what I left myself for this adventure, I pulled out my thin rectangular, brown notebook, it immediately increased in size as soon as I looked at it. My trusty companion. I checked deeper and scrape the bottom of the space... Nothing? I got myself nothing else? Alright. I checked out what I was wearing for my top, just a simple white shirt with a chest pocket. I breathed in deep and rolled my eyes, looks like a challenge I set myself up here. Along with a simple hiking boots and a sports hat. I just looked at my options smile to myself, I wanted an adventure. Let's do it. Oh shit my shirt has a pocket. I felt it and a hard circular metal pressed between my hand and my chest, I took what's inside and smiled, a gold coin! A weird symbol protruded from both sides, it's like an unfinished drawing of a flower, or like a rounded bluetooth symbol, wait, yep it's a rounded bluetooth symbol. I held the coin between my thumb and index about to flip the coin in the air. There are not enough evidence to know which way would be the best way, and knowing myself, the cover is never a great basis. I tensed my thumb and and flicked the coin high in the air, I watch it reflect a small amount of light from the sun an it reached its apex and I called tails for the creepy, foggy, ominous forest trail. I caught the coin in between my hands and slapped it on my forearm. And the fates decided to... It's rounded bluetooth symbol. I flipped a two sided coin. There's no heads and tails... I'm an idiot. I closed my eyes and tightened my lips, as I soaked my stupidity with a deep breath. Alright, never mind. I considered my choices again and just turned to the forest, I swear I heard somewhere that what ever pops in your head when flipping a coin reveals your true desire. So yeah, I guess the coin helped after all. The crunches of the dried leaves every time I put my weight on the ground soothed my soul a little bit. Looking back, I watched as the survival cabin slowly fade in the background. A man with a dark hooded cloak slowly revealed himself from the entrance of the shelter. I paused. He Immediately pinpointed my location and nodded, holding the tip of his hood like a cowboy would. I stared for a second and nodded hesitantly...
