TW: Mentions of rape and sexual assault

This is the last of our purity culture series. For this last episode we had an amazing conversation with Mattie Jo Cowsert. Before terms like “deconstruction” “purity culture” or “Exvangelical'' became hashtags all over the internet, Mattie Jo’ popular blog God, Sex & Rich People exposed the sometimes painful, sometimes hilarious realities of a young female Exvangelical navigating the diversity of Big Apple, working for the 1%, and dating in a city that never sleeps (and never stops sleeping around). This is her story.

Mattie Jo's book will be available September 10th, 2024 on Amazon.

  • Ep 78 True Love Waits
    Mar 28 2024

This is one of the few episodes we will be releasing over the next few weeks regarding purity culture. If you've been listening to us for a while, you know purity culture is something that often comes up in our episodes and I wanted to do a mini-series focusing on it. Here to discuss their own journey with purity culture, we have Canadian queer alt-pop artist Adaline, who just released a purity culture inspired single "True Love Waits", the third single from upcoming EP "Hymnal" (out March 22), that follows her journey of reconciling queerness and the harmful religious narratives she experienced growing up as the daughter of an evangelical minister.
