Building Our Own Tables

By: HowlRound Theatre Commons Yura Sapi
  • Summary

  • The Building Our Own Tables podcast offers a sonic journey of liberation: blending global majority voices, music, and wisdom to forge tables of justice, healing, and love. Supporting leaders on their path to collective liberation, it integrates diverse elements such as words, music, and poetry, emphasizing healing and decolonization. Centering voices of marginalized communities, including Black, Brown, Indigenous, and Multi-Race creators, it fosters solidarity and cultural wisdom in the pursuit of racial, social, and climate justice worldwide. Stemming from Yura Sapi's background as a theatre artist, it arose from a desire to create inclusive spaces rather than seek representation at existing tables. Donations to Yura's nonprofit, LiberArte, sustain such liberated spaces.
