    Jun 20 2024

He also discusses his time in the Atlas trading community and the lessons he learned from it, emphasizing the need for traders to find their own edge and develop their own strategies, rather than relying on others. After discussing the challenges of navigating social media and finding valuable information and connections, Zen shares his recommendations for Twitter follows who provide valuable insights and support. They wrap up with a final encouraging word by Zen urging everyone to persevere in their trading journey and not give up.

Zen also teases his idea for a podcast called Flow State, which has recently been confirmed!

    About Zen:

Zen began his trading journey in March 2020, diving into the financial markets during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Initially having little knowledge of investing, he was inspired by a friend's suggestion to capitalize on the market downturn, leading him to experiment with a small investment on Robinhood. His early success with a mortgage REIT sparked a deeper interest in trading.

Over time, Zen expanded his skills, moving from swing trading small caps to trading options, and eventually found success in scalping shares. In 2023, Zen attempted to trade full-time and did well, especially trading Tesla. However, a few personal mistakes led him to step back and reassess his approach. Currently, he is focused on disciplined trading with a healthier balance, continuing to trade individual stocks and options on a smaller scale.

He is a retired Project Engineer, Process Engineer and Quality Engineer.During Brian’s first year of trading, he made the common mistake of underestimating what it takes to be a trader and didn’t pay the markets or this occupation the proper respect. As a result, he paid a hefty price of over $45,000, loads of personal capital and nearly lost his marriage over it.Fortunately, Brian had the Quality Assurance experience working in manufacturing. When he applied the Quality Assurance methodology to his trading, he found that it works amazingly well, just like it has in the business world for decades to get struggling operations under control and predictably profitable. He then also applied his business acumen to further build that solid foundation that nearly all traders don’t get to really give him a solid base and peace of mind. Brian teaches these same success practices and methods to traders so that they can fill the gap in their training as well and enjoy relaxed, profitable trading too.Brian’s years of experience Quality Assurance and Business Consulting allow him to provide unique, effective and refreshing resources to the traders of the world. • “Taking Who You Are and Making It More” - Humanity w/ Andrew (AKA Bigfoot)
    May 30 2024
Andrew (Formerly known as Bigfoot) joins Kyle and Cleo in the latest Humanity of Trading episode to discuss parts work… What that means and how he has applied it to his own trading. He emphasizes the need to understand and work with different parts of oneself and shares his experience of hiring different “parts”, such as the risk manager and the thrill-seeker, to create a cohesive trading approach. By recognizing and integrating these parts, traders can improve their decision-making and overall performance. Andrew talks through the different states of mind he employs in trading before giving Cleo some insights into her own team based on a worksheet we filled out before the recording. Andrew suggests that Cleo should recognize and embrace her playful and present side in trading, and also utilize her adaptability and improvisational skills when things don't go as planned. Cleo mentions that interruptions and going off the rails are common in her work, and she handles them by validating the situation and finding a way to bring it back on track. Cleo and Kyle share their initial resistance to this approach but acknowledge its potential benefits. They explore the tension between rule-based discipline and improvisation in trading, and how to find a balance between the two. Andrew emphasizes the need to identify moments of completion in trading and transition between different aspects of one's personality. They also discuss the importance of self-reflection, accepting all parts of oneself, and confronting negative self-talk.Sponsors and FriendsOur podcast is sponsored by Sue Maki at Fairway Independent Mortgage (MLS# 206048). The key takeaways: the need for grit, continuous learning, and the ability to adapt and refine one's trading approach. They also highlight the importance of perseverance and resilience in trading, emphasizing the need to embrace losses and understand that losing is a part of the trading process.
