    Watch me paint watercolor–portrait of this Shinto Sun Goddess, Amaterasu. I'll talk about the story of Amaterasu in Japanese Mythology. I'll also connect that to wellness, and the fear of failure.


    This watercolor portrait of Amaterasu is in an anime illustrative style.


    I paint all my watercolors using holy water from a sacred well, deep in the heart of the forest.


    Amaterasu is the Shinto Sun Goddess. She’s the part of us that knows abundance. For abundance, you have to trust in yourself.


    I’m going to paint another three portraits of her and tell her story.


    This painting is about breaking the fear of failure and bringing a good harvest. Believe in yourself. Trust your light. The world needs it.


    When I came to the forest, it took a while for me to break fear’s grip. Failure was a big one.


    Breaking free was one of the most liberating things I’ve done.


    Failure is a doorway. Not a roadblock.

I felt hopeless, that I was not good enough and had no chance of making it. I constantly had "Am I good enough? Will I make it?" running through my mind. It didn't feel great, distracted me, and caused way more problems than I needed.But, what I discovered out here changed my life forever.I had no time to feel sorry for myself. I had to act because my life depended on it. Everything I took for granted, like fresh water, had to be carried through the rocky terrain out here.If I didn't focus I'd injure myself, end up sick, or worse. I had to push through, regardless of what my mental state was doing.Through persistence, and the mindset hacks I'll give you in this video, I did more than survive. I'm thriving now, and living my best life. A life I've dreamt about for years.Along with this video, I've also written an in-depth article on not feeling good enough.   • The Cure For Loneliness

    Loneliness is a difficult emotion for many. I live off-grid, spending large amounts of time alone, yet I never feel lonely anymore. In this video, I'll perform a freestyle spoken word poem about my experience of loneliness and how that changed for me.

    This video accompanies an article I wrote for my newsletter, which takes a deep dive into loneliness and my whole journey with it from childhood. The links for that are above.

    What I realized about loneliness is that it came from the misconception that I wasn't complete without others. It's ironic. Because many of us have the experience of being alone while in a room full of people.

    So the cure isn't spending more time with people. It's much better to hang out with people without trying to escape loneliness. Otherwise, you may seem desperate, and they'll likely avoid you. Being avoided creates more loneliness, obviously.

    So the other thing I realized, which I go into in this poem, is that everything you feel when you're with other people comes from inside.

    Now the secret to destroying loneliness for good is to generate those emotions, like the feeling of completeness, love, peace, etc, through focusing on your heart, resting your attention, and letting go of needing anyone for anything.

    Please remember: you are magic, you are whole, you are enough. Never forget that. Everything you think you can get from others is within you. There is no need to look outside yourself to feel complete.

    The trick is generating everything you think you're missing from others not being there, in yourself, at will. People talk about willpower being non-existent. But that comes from a misunderstanding.

    Willpower is heightened focus. You take awareness, which is wide open, and focus it on a single point, like your heart. When you do that, you can generate emotions, slow your heart rate down, and decide how you feel.

    It's a great technique and totally freed me from loneliness. You are way more powerful than most of us believe ourselves to be. That power starts in the mind, and you grow it by finding that sense of serenity within.
