• Episode PREVIEW: Bodies of Knowledge
    May 30 2024

If we're going to explore the history of people, the guitar, people and their guitars, and the guitar and its people, we first need to find out some things about us. How we became musical beings, ask if we're musical beings at all, and find out how we learned to make things that would eventually help us to make things that would help us to make music. I promise that you'll never see Saturday Night Fever in the same way, ever again. That'll be in Bodies of Knowledge, Episode Two of A People's History of the Guitar, dropping (or emerging?) on Tuesday, 21 May, 2024. Click on follow and the machine will let you know when it's up.

  • There is No Origin Story
    May 30 2024

In this episode we'll go back in time, into a cave with a Greek God where the mythical first stringed instrument was created, to Wisconsin, California, and Mississippi, in search of an origin story for the guitar. No spoilers, but the show title might give you a hint of what's to come

And it's time to ask for support. If the idea of a podcast about the history of the guitar that's also a history of humans and our music sounds interesting, I agree. I have about a year's worth of content outlined and some great interviews lined-up and planned, and you can help me get this started for real, and able to deliver 3-4 episodes every month. I'm in need of resources for travel, research, equipment, and this podcast has to pay for itself.

Help me get this project launched for real with a one-time contribution or a subscription by visiting aphotguitar@gmail.com patreon.com/aphotguitar.

Thanks for checking out this new project, for listening, and for considering supporting the idea. I really want to see where this goes, and I think it's gonna get pretty interesting.
