Publisher's summary

Over the last 25 years, Geoffrey Moore has established himself as one of the most influential high-tech advisors in the world - once prompting Conan O'Brien to ask "Who is Geoffrey Moore and why is he more famous than me?"

Following up on the ferociously innovative Escape Velocity, which served as the basis for Moore's consulting work to such companies as Salesforce, Microsoft, and Intel, Zone to Win serves as the companion playbook for his landmark guide, offering a practical manual to address the challenge large enterprises face when they seek to add a new line of business to their established portfolio. Focused on spurring next-generation growth, guiding mergers and acquisitions, and embracing disruption and innovation, Zone to Win is a high-powered tool for driving your company above and beyond its limitations, its definitions of success, and ultimately, its competitors.

Moore's classic bestseller, Crossing the Chasm, has sold more than one million copies by addressing the challenges faced by start-up companies. Now Zone to Win is set to guide established enterprises through the same journey.

A very hard book to read

With hardly any story to illustrate the concept in between, it's very hard to understand. The two examples at the end is good but not enough. 100% concentration is needed to listen to this book. The zone concept is very insightful. I felt like listening to a textbook.

More relevant than ever before, but images absent

This work remains relevant to developing and executing strategies for initiating market disruption and inhibiting its effects on your business when from outside. The primary downside, however, is the absence of the images provided in the physical text. you may be able to find them elsewhere, but they're especially helpful for considering the theoretical concepts presented - at least until you get to the chapter examples near the book's end.

Useful conceptual framework for business development

A new prism of analysis focusing on the evolution of lines of business over time with some very practical guidelines.
Would benefit of more examples along the different chapters.

Great disruption handbook

It is no secret that the future will be filled with disruptors and disruptees and so this handbook is the first real playbook that I’ve seen can help companies being disrupted really go on the defense and turn things around so they can start getting on offense. It was a very tall order to come up with a better book than crossing the chasm and I don’t think this is more revolutionary than crossing the chasm but it is very timely and very relevant. It is especially well-suited for large corporations that have fallen out of step with their leader ship positions or with newly large corporations that are mired in the chaos of extremely fast growth. Highly highly recommend it. Just make sure you’re not expecting the width and humor from crossing the casm because that part of Jeffrey Moore sol is definitely lacking in this more reason book.

Too high level for most

Got about half way through but I’m not the target audience and book is more of an intellectual exercise as readers won’t be at a level where most companies large enough for this book to apply and be able to influence or change dynamics. Good insights and understanding but little practical advise outside big company execs.

Valuable content, rather hard to follow on audio.

Business has changed, Disrupt or be Disrupted

I am a Geoffrey Moore fan. He does a great job of taking his research into the challenges facing businesses today and helps prepare businesses for the future. Delivering products today in the SaaS world has many challenges that didn't exist in the past. When you sit back and look at all the great companies that have unsuccessfully re-invented themselves it is astonishing that even with smart people at the helm you have to adapt. Zone to Win put a perspective on innovation that has to get leaders to understand and commit to what business they want to pursue. I thought the book was well written and narration was good.
