Story
Bittersweetness is a tendency to states of longing, poignancy, and sorrow; an acute awareness of passing time; and a curiously piercing joy at the beauty of the world. It recognizes that light and dark, birth and death - bitter and sweet - are forever paired. Susan Cain employs the same mix of research, storytelling, and memoir she used in Quiet to explore why we experience sorrow and longing, and how embracing the bittersweetness at the heart of life is the true path to creativity, connection, and transcendence.

Good Information, Poor Narration.
What did you love best about You Can Heal Your Heart?
First, let me start my review by being clear this book is not REALLY “By Louise Hay” as they want you to think. I adore Louise Hay, I have all her books. However, Louise is not 87 years old and clearly can not or does not want to write additional books on her own. For whatever reason (to sell books and make profits, I assume) her publishing company, Hay House, has developed a new “idea”. They have another author write 99.5% of a book, they have said author narrate 99.5% of said book, they have the author lovely mention Louise having input into the text and then you will hear Louise read a few affirmations or make a VERY brief comment during the audio. They then slap her name on the cover as a co-author which I believe does her and her fans a major disservice. That is what Hay House has done here. That is what they did with “All Is Well”. I hope they stop, but I had a strong feeling when I bought his book that is what they had done so I wasn't totally shocked, just rolled my eyes.
What other book might you compare You Can Heal Your Heart to and why?
As I said "All is Well" and that is not a good thing.
Would you be willing to try another one of Louise Hay and David Kessler ’s performances?
This book is not read by Louise Hay. It is almost entirely David Kessler and a flaw of the audiobook which I have seen far too often is having the author read it. David Kessler is not a good narrator. He actually stops a few times mid-sentence as if he lost his place or was unsure where to pause (I thought it was me, I re-listened, nope.) and a couple of times uses the term “herself” when he means “himself” and “her” when he mean “him”. He does THAT several times and I have no idea if the actual book is also incorrect but you spot it each time. Why they let those error get released instead of simply re-recording that portion escapes me. However, as informative as David Kessler's information may be, his reading of his own text shouldn't have happened and it can be distracting. He is also very monotone.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
That above said, there IS VALUE to this book. The READ author David Kessler does impart important information about grief be it via a breakup, divorce or death as the book claims. I made notes of a number of things he shared and found it very helpful. So I recommend this book.
Any additional comments?
I am a longtime user of Audible and typically review the books I have listened to to help others. I will say that the "review form" is very poor as it asks you question that may have not be what you care to discuss about the book. SO, if my responses don't quite answer the question asked, sorry. The form forces you to adapt it to your own needs.

Inspiration for every stage of life!
This book provides deep and useful for dealing with loss and transition. In addition to the main themes of separation and death, I loved the last chapter which touches upon other aspects of loss including loss of a job and challenges related to one's identify. I would definitely recommend this - not just for people who are currently dealing with transition or grief - since the lessons hold good for every point of the journey.
I saw the critical feedback on the narration and was worried about purchasing the audio book initially. But my experience was just the opposite. If anything the combination between Louise Hay's soothing, sage-like voice and Kessler's earnest and and enthused narration made the book come alive for me. This is one book that you will put down and genuinely thank the authors for the gift of their insight!

The authors build the readers confidence to get through the great traumas of life from loosing a job, divorce, major illness to the loss of a loved one. The focus is on using positive affirmations to build the psyche and get out of the victim why me mentality. A very good read to dealing with the grief and moving on.

Harsh Speaker
Being in a vulnerable place and dealing with grief I knew I needed the nurturing of Louise. she is there in bits and pieces providing affirmations. That is the most valuable part of the book. It's so hard to work through the rest because David Kessler's voice is so harsh and without any gentle inflection. It's like somebody yelling at you to process your grief.
