The Hollow Boys had me in a chokehold for months!!! If you’re second guessing starting this bc you think it can’t compare, or will sour in comparison… just read it!! You won’t regret it I promise!!! The scene where all the Hollow boys came together I almost cried!!! (It was not an emotional scene yet there I was lol)

If you enjoyed the Hollow Boys series, you'll love this.The River Styx Heathens are the next generation. Even though this is a standalone series, it would help to read The Hollow Boys series. I had a big smile anytime the boys were in the picture.
Monty Jay is a fantastic storyteller. She paints a picture in every scene. You feel like you're there and feeling all the emotions. I can't wait for the next one.
Duet narration by Liam Dicosimo and Michelle Sparks. They were perfect for these characters.

Oh. My. God. Jude Sinclair is basically the 90’s bad boy heartthrob that every girl wanted but he only wanted the geeky girl. Wrath of an exile had everything: trauma, revenge, The Hollow Boys, and world building with effing hot spice. I can not wait for more of the River Styx Heathens

I have been really excited to read this author since I’ll be seeing them at a book signing in October! And after finishing this, I’m already excited to read more. I, of course, didn’t realize that this was a second generation, so I’ll definitely be going back and reading The Hollow Boys series. I absolutely adore poetic writing, especially while reading romance books. It feeds my soul for some reason and this book did just that. This author did a fantastic job at really sucking me into the story. It was poetic, dark, great storytelling, and even greater characters. Jude and Seraphina go through it! Truthfully, I didn’t know how they were gonna make it out alive, but somehow they managed to. And boy was it worth it. I swear my heart broke for the both of them many times but by the end of it, it was put back together again. The audio for this book was absolutely phenomenal. Michelle Sparks and Liam Dicosimo really brought these two characters to life. I’ve never, that I can remember, listened to Liam narrate a book before and I really enjoyed his voice. Especially for Jude, it was a literal perfect fit. Michelle does a great job every time I listen to her do an audiobook. She literally never disappoints. Highly recommend listening to this book on audio!

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It took me a bit to get through because life is awesome and gets in the way of reading. But if I was able to, I probably would’ve read this in one sitting. I definitely need to go back and reread the first gen books and then come back and listen to this again.

Absolutely in love!!

These narrators were fantastic in bringing these character to life on audio! I felt the heat and tension in both their desire and disdain for one another, giving me everything I LOVE with enemies to lovers and hitting me so very in the feels! And those forehead touches, gahhh my heart!

Absolutely loveddddd this one.
Jude didn’t need anyone, but he craved for someone to see him, love him and show him what a family truly was.

Phi might’ve had it all, but she found herself spiraling after events took place. Until the one person she was supposed to stay away from and hate forever ended up being the person that saw her for everything she was.

Together they created a universe they knew was safe, regardless of their last names.

I strongly suggest reading the Hallow Boys series before jumping into the River Styx Heathens series, as they follow into the same overall world.

The narrators, Liam Dicosimo and Michelle Saprks, did a great job bringing this amazing book to life. Getting to reread this book in audio form gave me alllll of the feels as if it was the first time again. I fell in love with Jude and Seraphina all over again! 🖤

Also, Chapter 24 & 25… yeah.. just thank me later 🙃

Romeo & Juliet but darker, more tension & BETTER!

I am speechless! This book is incredible—Monty Jay’s writing prose is morbidly dark and beautiful. I wanted to bookmark/highlight every page! The narrators did an absolutely fabulous job portraying Jude and Seraphina in duet format. The characters jumped right out of the story and I didn’t want this to ever end. Loved Jude’s poetic outlet and related to Phi’s love of science and need to please her family through success. The way the author wove their families history and past traumas into their healing story was perfect. And I love that they found solace in one another’s differences. The enemies to lovers/romeo& juliet-esque tension and angst is palpable right from the start. I read another review that said the hollow boys walked so the river styx heathens could run and I absolutely agree. It was so fun to be back in this world in a new generation. This was infinity star territory and I cannot wait to see what Monty comes up with next in this series!

A perfect story with great audio!

First off this story alone is perfect. Add in narration… and you have a real good time!! I absolutely love Michelle Sparks and she was PERFECT as phi! Her voice tone and the way she made Phi feel like someone I knew. At first I was a little unsure of Liam Dicosimo but he really did fantastic as Jude- especially as you get to know Jude- they really blend well! I highly recommend this audiobook! I cannot wait for book 2 in this series!

This is a second generation story and I highly suggest you first read the Hallow Boys series before this one… and as always check your triggers.

Wrath of Exile is the first book in the Hollow Boys next gen series. Serephina "Phi" is the adopted daughter of Rook & Sage (The Truths We Burn). Jude is the son of Easton Sinclair (Sage's ex). When Jude's horrible dad dies, he's sent to live with Rook & Jude.

Phi is secretly dealing with dark scars, and Jude is living with the fallout of being his father's son. These are two broken people with no love lost, only hate-lust.

There's a good balance of plot with on-going mystery along with unraveling some of Phi & Jude's past. This is a true enemies-to-lovers story with dark themes. Check trigger warnings.

The audiobook was phenomenal 👏 Narrated in duet by Liam Dicosimo & Michelle Sparks.
