Publisher's Summary

Two hearts locked away... Hannah Walker spends her days coaching children through injury and trauma, one therapeutic horseback ride at a time. She knows all too well how violence can change a child and leave scars that never heal. It's easy for her to relate to the kids; what isn't easy is the thought of facing her own harrowing past.

Millionaire playboy Stephen McKinney could use a little coaching himself. Five years ago he encountered his most horrible nightmare - and the nightmare won. No matter what he achieves, nothing can make up for that awful night... or so he believes. Both desperate for a second chance... Stephen is used to getting what he wants. And he wants Hannah. So when she turns him down, he's intrigued. What he doesn't know is that her secrets will lead him to a place he never wanted to go again... to a side of himself he's tried to forget... a side that would scare Hannah away from ever loving him. Now his only chance to win her trust is to bare his soul, risking everything he tried so hard to protect.

Much more pain than pleasure in reading this

I loved the first book in the series, but this one was very different. I wish the previous reviewers had warned me about the amount of description of terrifying, unbearably painful and damaging experiences of the main characters.

This might have been worth exposing myself to if there was a lot more of the beautiful, loving, supportive interactions the characters in the first book had throughout. There was also so much repetition of situations and dialog that just seemed to be filler without advancing the story.

There was a point well into the book when I was going to stop reading, but I wanted to get to some resolution, and thought the worst was over...but I was wrong. More ugly scenes of injustice and torture that may have led to a transformation in characters...but left me very sorry I had continued, and sorry I had read the book at all.

Just as good as the first one

Again the narration was spot on. Great story and brought in more characters for some great spin offs with Hannah's brothers. Hope they get the next one out soon.

DON'T RISK MISSING THIS AWESOME LISTEN

Stephen and Hannah are both haunted by vicious tragedies in their pasts but while Stephen only has mental scars of his trauma Hannah has the physical scars too that constantly remind her never to trust. But when she meets Stephen, the very handsome businessman who keeps pursuing her, she starts to let her guard down.... but there are heartbreaking consequences that follow for these two loveable characters.

Trust, loyalties, love and second chances come into play but the plot holds drama, angst and bitter betrayals too when greed and jealousies have an evil plan of their own. It's a beautiful romance that's so touching and heartfelt, with great secondary family members all willing to help two lost souls find love and, despite all the obstacles standing in their way, these two lovers deserve their very HEA ending.

Worth a credit? Great narration, dual POV's, very addictive listening and YES, so far, these McKinney Brothers all seem very creditworthy.

Definitely Worth the Risk

Any additional comments?

What a great story of two broken individuals coming together to heal each other. I enjoyed the evolving relationship between Hanna and Stephen. They seem to fit together in just the right way to make each other stronger. There was a lot going on in this book vs. the first book. A lot of outside forces trying to keep our H/h apart which fed my need for some heart-stopping suspense. Thanks Claudia for a great book and I cannot wait for JT!! ;)

Struggled to finish

What would have made Worth the Risk better?

The book started out okay and then just kept getting worse. Why all the high reviews. The storyline was so unrealistic and no character development. All the trauma was so overboard

Has Worth the Risk turned you off from other books in this genre?

No. Just the author

Which scene was your favorite?

None

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The beginning

Love

This series is just everything to me right now. I was in need of something to warm my heart between all these dark and twisted books I have been reading and these books are perfect.

While they do have drama and excitement and angst, they also are filled with hope, laughter and love.

Johanna Parker is an amazing narrator and I really enjoy listening to these stories told by her. She has the perfect balance of male/female voices and can pull off a child's voice without sounding corny. She's fantastic!

Intense... made me cry a couple of times and surprised me with the story. The beginning of the book was a little slow for me but it gets better and better as you listen to it... Completely worth it
