Publisher's summary

Welcome to Everlasting, Maine, where there's no such thing as normal.

Charlotte Fenchurch knows that, which is why she's not that surprised when a very special book of magic falls into her hands at the library where she works. As a fledgling witch, owning her own grimoire is a dream come true. But there’s something... mysterious about the book she just can’t figure out.

Leopard shifter Walker Black knows what's odd about the book. It’s full of black magic and so dangerous that it could destroy the world. Good thing the Fraternal Order of Light has sent him to Everlasting to recover it and put it into safe storage. If he has to, he'll even take the witch who owns it into custody.

That is until he meets Charlotte and realizes she's not out to watch the world burn. She's sweet and kind and wonderful. Suddenly, protecting her is all he wants to do. Well, that and kiss her some more. But dark forces seem determined to get their hands on the book, making Charlotte their target, and Walker worries that he won't be able to protect her from them - or the organization he works for.

Can Walker and Charlotte survive the onslaught of danger? Or is that just "witchful" thinking?

Great Mystery -kept me guessing until the end!

Loved this new story by Kristen Painter! I didn't listen to it in order with the rest of the series and didn't feel I missed anything -great as a standalone novel. I wasn't certain 'whodunnit' until the end -great twists and turns! I had to go back and listen to the entire story again because the ending threw all of the characters into a new light - I wanted to see the pieces of their characters that I might have missed. Great character building in such a short novel! I love Nocturne Falls, but Charlotte and Walker won my heart. Will definitely listen to it again!

Addictive and light

I love Kristen Painter's books. This series is written by different authors each time. I liked this one the most. There was more suspense and twists to keep you interested. I finished the whole series in less than 2 days. Highly recommend for a quick light read.

A fun little mystery with a solid romance base!

Another lovely little story by Kristen Painter! If you've read (and enjoyed) any of the Nocturne Falls stories, then you'll love this one too. There's definitely more mystery, but it's still got a solid love story underneath.

Charlotte is a newbie witch and assistant librarian who recently came into possession of wickedly powerful (and generally just wicked) grimoire (book of magic, for anyone who is new to the paranormal). Walker is the leopard shifter agent sent to retrieve the book to be contained and locked away from any who would use it for evil. Their tale is a fun little mystery with a bit of action, a good helping of romance, some kitty cuddling fun, and an interesting town chock full of paranormals. If that sounds like your bag, give it a go!

BJ Harrison is always a pleasure to listen to. I enjoy his voices (none make me cringe) and you can tell when he's on a different person. These two are always a good combo.

Boring Characters

I love Kristen Painter’s Nocturne Falls and this falls short by a mile. The story is slow and the characters are boring.

Love it!

Loved this story. Love this author. Love this new paranormal town & its quirky characters. Even though its written by different authors, its funny, well- developed & consistent. The narrator is awesome!!

Minor plot holes

The story is cute and part of the series, but this one needs an editor. Change of dinner plans and missing leftovers didn't really interfere with the story but was sloppy. It was missing something.
