Publisher's summary

Sex and money scandals. An exploding divorce rate. Drug-addicted youths. And an ever-growing worldliness. Today's evangelical church is fighting battles on all fronts. And we seem to be losing these battles to the relentlessly encroaching world. Perhaps the answers to our problems are not in the present, but in the past. Because there was time when Christians were able to stand up to world.

The author takes you on an engrossing journey back to the time - back to the end of the first century. Here is an inspiring account of what Christians believed and practiced at the close of the age of the apostles - and how the church eventually lost the Christianity of that time.

But Will the Real Heretics Please Stand Up is not primarily a history book. It's a fresh, creative look at the problems facing the church today - and the solution to those problems. It's a call for today's church to return to the simple holiness, unfailing love, and patient cross-bearing of the early Christians.

Early church

This book challenged me to live closer to the early church rather than the modern church. This is guaranteed to help people have a deeper relationship with Christ.

Everyone should hear this message.

The church has changed much from it's beginning. Hear how it was and should be again.

Churches of Christ

The church history compiled by the author is, for the most part, exemplary. He exposed the human condition well. Where man disagrees and believes he knows more, whether pertaining to God or man, division happens. Even our blessed Lord Jesus spoke about this.

The only very small group that the author missed was us. We adhere to the pattern and some historical accounts have even said we came out of the Anabaptist movement. They have concocted an entire story from the Reformation Movement in America. They have devised and written books claiming our ancestry from the Campbell’s and Stones.

Why can’t people just realize that our great God, who created all things, could create The church? Why can’t people just realize that our great Lord and Savior, who died for this very church, established her with His teachings and Apostles, and disciples of that day? Why can’t people just realize that the Holy Spirit of God is the very thing that gives us strength, convicts us, and seals us for the Day? All this is written in the Bible, compiled and canonized in that first century. Those letters have stood (protected by God) throughout almost two thousand years.

Narrow is the gate and few there are who find it. God says it ALL perfectly. The “perfect” has come. Read it and find the church.

God, please continue to bless us with the knowledge and strength of Your Magnificent Plan of Salvation! Please continue to bless us with a love that is steadfast like Yours. Please continue to help us to love those who persecute us, revile us, and speak all manner of evil against us. Thank you for Your Holy Spirit (Colossians 2) that You sealed us with at baptism. Thank You Jesus for saving us.

Every Christian on Earth should read this book !

Whether you consider yourself an ultra-conservative Christian who can trace their Roots back to the first century or a modern 21st Christian who attends a megachurch you need to read this book. before you listen to what one more modrrn preachee or pastor has to say on his interpretation of the church that Jesus Christ established, read with the apostles and their early disciples said about the purpose of the Lord's church and how it was to change the world. You might get mad, you will definitely be sad but this book will affect you... you will not be the same afterwards and you will not View the Christianity that is in the world today the same after reading what the writers in the first three centuries wrote about the pattern of the church that the apostles left for them to follow. For too long Christians have accepted the history of the church based on what men who lived a thousand or two thousand years afterwards interpreted as being... it's time you read what those that were living it at the time actually said about it and how they felt Jesus expected them to live and to organize his church and to treat each other, and also their position in the world. David Percor does a fantastic job in his research and orderly presentation of these thoughts and ideas from the early church writers. MUST READ.

This book ruined my life!

Mr. Bercot tore apart the watered down Christianity I practice. With continuous historical quotes from contemporaries of the Apostles he shows how radical, hard, and holy the first Christians were and how low modern American Christian standards are.

Know where your salvation comes from God not man's

Where does the authority for the "Church" come from? What happened to the Ekklesia? When did they start doing that practice? What is the source of all the rules, rituals and titles in the "church"? Do you know where all the doctrine comes from or do you trust a "pastor" or theologian to keep that up for you? Where is the authority for infant baptism, tithe, altar, sinner's prayer, paid staff, huge buildings as a sanctuary, temples built by men, etc? Restore the first things. Obey the few commands of Jesus, reject the rules and rituals of the divided, denominated daughters of the whore of Babylon. Come to Jesus the perfector of our faith. Flee the reverends, fathers, and rulers of men to the humble service in the kingdom of God. Bercot is accused of being a JW, What were you before you were saved? We all have our prejudices and preconceived notions and opinions. What does the word say? Rightly divided not a mixed covenant with old and new rules added together. Remove your veil and buy salve so you can see. We have one law to follow that is over every law. That is the Royal Law of Jesus. Galatians 5:14, everything else is religion and "Skybalon" Be sure to follow this read up with David's book "Will the real Theologians"

Challenging and enlightening

This book is not for those that are comfortable in their faith. It is for those looking for a real and genuine experience, searching beyond the doctrines of modern church for something that would please the Lord Jesus.

Insightful.

Very insightful. The author does a good job comparing holy scripture to the early Christian writings which clearly showed the truth in practices of early Christians.

A very insightful treatise

This book certainly makes me question where we’ve inherited our modern church beliefs. Having recently begun studying the early church, this book certainly helped answer many of the points I had started to ask.
At first I thought the voice artist was doing a poor job of reading, but after realising it was the author reading his own book, the way he read it made much more sense, and was even helpful.
