Publisher's Summary

Number one best-selling author Gill Sims is back with her eagerly awaited fourth and final Why Mummy novel.

I just wanted them to stop wittering at me, eat vegetables without complaining, let me go to the loo in peace and learn to make a decent gin and tonic.

It genuinely never occurred to me when they were little that this would ever end - an eternity of Teletubbies and Duplo and In the Night Garden and screaming, never an end in sight.

But now there is.

And despite the busybody old women who used to pop up whenever I was having a bad day and tell me I would miss these days when they were over, I don’t miss those days at all.

I have literally never stood wistfully in the supermarket and thought, ‘Oh, how I wish someone was trailing behind me constantly whining ‘Mummy, can I have, Mummy can I have?’ while another precious moppet tries to climb out the trolley so they land on their head and we end up in A&E.

Again.

Mummy has been a wife and mother for so long that she’s a little bit lost. And despite her best efforts, her precious moppets still don’t know the location of the laundry basket, the difference between being bored and being hungry, or that saying ‘I can’t find it Mummy’ is not the same as actually looking for it. Amidst the chaos of A-Levels and driving tests, she’s doing her best to keep her family afloat, even if everybody is set on drifting off in different directions and that one of those directions is to make yet another bloody snack. She’s feeling overwhelmed and under appreciated and the only thing that Mummy knows for sure is that the bigger the kids, the bigger the drink.

Delightful

Love the author, series, and narrator. Honest and cheeky. Mummy swears, which she states plainly in the first installment, so don’t get your knickers in a twist about it. Have another glass of wine, and let Gill Sims and Mummy make you giggle.

Why Mummy's Brilliant - as always!

After binge-listening the other Mummy books (again) prior to listening to the finale I couldn't wait to find out how Ellen's life would turn out. I wasn't disappointed. Edward, the neighbour, Louisa, Marissa, Peter, Jane, Barry and, of course, Judgy had me LOL- ing and making my husband and kids raise questioning brows. I told them that they wouldn't understand. Only very busy and important Mummies would be clever enough to understand such words of wisdom. Thank you Gill for a fabulous series. You deserve much wine & many G&T's.

I couldn't stop laughing.

This book lives up to the previous two, and more. It is so funny, I couldn't stop laughing out loud, earning some very curious looks from my cats and family.

The baby sitting chapter had me in stitches as I remember my sister's both refusing to babysit for me ever again. They were shell shocked and suffering from PTSD. I identified with Hannah!

I kind of know this is the end of the tale, but I hope Gill Sims finds another story to tell, soon.

Loved the whole series

These series of books are so much fun and light-hearted. I was actually gutted when the book ended.
Ellen becomes your friend as she is the standard mum and there are traces of all of us in her.
I really hope the author writes another.

How do you know what I’m thinking?

Loved this book. How did Gill Sims know what I am thinking? Makes me feel so much better about my parenting skills to know that others have shared the pains and pleasures of being a mum. I will miss these books, they have given me so much pleasure and so brilliantly narrated. Thank you

Quite Possibly the Best in the Series

Less swearing I think than the last few books. Interesting how the family had moved on.
