Resumen del Editor

You can’t pick your family...

Death by Chocolate is her favorite dessert. And those knitting needles aren't just for craft projects. To most people, Gin Bombay is an ordinary single mom. Then again, they don't know she's from a family of top-secret assassins. Somewhere between leading a Girl Scout troop for her kindergartner - would nooses count for a knot badge? - and keeping their puppy from destroying the furniture, Gin now has to take out a new target.

...but you can pick them off.

Except this target has an incredibly hot Australian bodyguard who knows just how to make her weak in the knees. But with a traitor threatening to expose everything, Gin doesn't have much time indulge her hormones. She's got to find the leak and clear her assignment...or she'll end up next on the Bombay family hit list.

Entertaining Dark Comedy

The Bombay family of assassin's takes dysfunctional to a whole new level. Gin is the quirky protagonist whose sarcastic humor is used to describe the diverse cast of characters.
Suspend disbelief and enjoy the comic relief!

A very good story!

Very entertaining, great characters and the narrator did a good job on voicing them. I enjoyed the plot and the ending.

fun read

But seriously, when did women start spending all their time thinking and talking about sex....boring. Sex is not a spectator sport.

Entertaining, but….

I story was entertaining, but having children be Assassins is a bit rough for me and because of that I won’t continue with this series. The performance was very good.

If you thought your family was strange...

I love love love this series ❤ It was my first introduction to Leslie Langtry and I haven't stopped laughing yet! If you have a slightly sick sense of humor, do yourself a favor and get these books...in print AND Audible. You'll laugh for days ❤

The family that slays together stays together

“I found myself wondering if I really could kill someone with chocolate cheesecake.
No, that would be a waste of chocolate. Most of my hits didn’t deserve to die so richly.”
This is a not quite cozy series in the spirit of movies like R.E.D., Despicable Me or The Incredibles.
It’s a zippy tale of a family tree of assassins going back centuries and now dealing with life in suburbia.
As with all family trees, there’s a few nuts. Yes, the kids are raised to kill, but it’s a lot like the kids in
The Adams Family- If you can’t suspend disbelief for wonky humor, then stick with vanilla mysteries.

“You and I have unfinished business” The Bride, Kill Bill
Both the violence and the romance are fade to black. The cussing is of the Sh and GD variety.
There’s fun with names (like Gin’s family being named after states like Vir(Gin)ia or Missi(sippi)).
There’s pop culture quotes to start chapters, like from The Professional, Kill Bill, and The Incredibles.
And, there’s a lot of clever, cheeky tips on assassination involving things like Chia Pets.

Is the bad guy obvious? Sure. Will the premise fall apart under close inspection? Duh.
This is not hard boiled noir or a serious crime thriller. This is kooky killer fun and I was there for it.

Yes but no

This book and the 3rd book which is missy's story are the best in the series. Dakotas story #2, is a retelling of this one from a narcissistic male point of view with a slight twist. Coneys story is different but so predictable and poorly narrorated. Paris's story is a play on missy's story from an insecure male. Evidently the author struggles with finding unique story lines and likes making political jabs. There is a ton of repetition.

The female narrator in this series does a great job distinguishing between voices and personalities. The male narrator for some reason has 0 continuity with male voices and 0 female range. More often than not he sounds like a slurring wise guy from The Bronx rather than an ivy league Midwest person.

The series is centered around a family of assassins and stresses how strict their code is repeatedly yet every single one of the younger generation breaks the rules; discussing stuff outside the family, sharing jobs, messing up, not finishing job, ect. They get a free pass every time with 0 consequences ultimately ending the Bombay family tradition of assassins and premise of the series. It was pretty disappointing to wrap up the series finding that they don't actually want to be assassins, they regret that they've been assassins, but they love the money they got from being assasins. The only one to have any consequences is Richie, evidently he is so personally disliked that nobdy wanted to make exceptions for him, sucks to be unpopular.
