Publisher's Summary

A captivating debut novel about brothers who have drifted apart and the accident that will determine their future, written by an unforgettable new voice in fiction.

Some twins communicate in a secret language all their own. For Whiskey and Charlie Ferns, the two-way alphabet (alpha, bravo, charlie, delta) whispered back and forth over their crackly walkie-talkies is the best they can do. But as the brothers grow up, they grow apart. Whiskey is everything Charlie is not - bold, daring, carefree - and Charlie blames his brother for always stealing the limelight, always striving ahead while seeming to push Charlie back. By the time the twins reach adulthood, they are barely even speaking to each other.

When Charlie hears that Whiskey has been in a terrible accident and has slipped into a coma, he is shocked...although perhaps not devastated. But as days and weeks slip by, and the chances of Whiskey's recovering grow ever more slim, Charlie is forced to look back on their lives and examine whether Whiskey's actions were truly as unforgivable as Charlie believed them to be.

Great story of two brothers and their fight to regain a long lost relationship

This book tells the story of a rivalry between twin brothers, their bitter estrangement and the accident that left one brother in a coma and the other regretting their past and praying for a doubtful reconciliation.

Great except accents

I really enjoyed this book and listened to it in a few days. The man reading the book was a great narrator for the British, Australian, Canadian and American accents. Unfortunately his Peruvian accents for Rosa and Tomas (unknown where he was from) were very distracting. Tomas would switch back and forth between French, Irish and Jamaican. Rosa sounded Russian, Italian but never South American.

TALE OF TWO SIBLINGS

Character driven novel covers twin brothers once best friends who have grown apart. This is a beautifully written novel interspersed with humor and a rich plot that is ultimately redemptive. Gildart Jackson did an excellent job with the different voices. I enjoyed this book and I hope to see more books from Annabel Smith.

Brothers

A very emotional story, absolutely compelling. The dynamics between twin brothers growing up, the completion between them, the conflicts that separate them, and the tragedy that finally brings them together, makes for powerful reading. I really loved this book. I didn't love the narrator, but he was adequate.

A sweet story of brothers

After reading many reviews, I decided to use a credit. At first, I was irritated with my pick, it took some time to get into this, but after a few hours, I found that I did enjoy listening to the complications of this brother bond. In the end, it was worth a credit.
