Publisher's Summary

When retired postmaster Albert Schumer is found dead on the steps of the post office, the whole town of Mystic Notch is disappointed he won’t be able to play in the annual checkers tournament.

But when his ghost informs middle-aged bookstore owner Willa Chance that he died trying to deliver an old letter, which has mysteriously gone missing, Willa realizes Albert didn’t just slip and fall. Someone killed him. Even worse, it turns out the letter contains a list of ingredients for a spell that could wreak havoc on Mystic Notch if it falls into the wrong hands.

The good news is that Pandora and the Mystic Notch cats are on the case. The bad news is that Pandora hasn’t made much progress in getting Willa to receive her subtle communications. She’s going to have to step up her game in that area because the cats are depending on her to secure the help of the humans if they want to stop the killer and protect the letter. Lucky thing Willa’s love interest, Eddie Striker, seems to be more receptive to Pandora’s attempt at communication.

Pandora might have a way to help the humans stop the person with the letter, earn the respect of the other cats, and help Willa and Striker realize they are made for each other. Will it work? Let’s hope so, because the fate of Mystic Notch depends on it.

Reader overdramatized

I love Leigh Anne Dobb’s Mystic Notch mysteries. However, this new reader is ruining the experience of this book for me. She reads in an overdramatized exaggeratedly modular voice. I can’t tell if she’s trying to make Willa sound sexy like a character I don’t think she’s meant to be. It can sound a bit like a movie narrator from an old 40’s gangster private detective-movie. Any time the reader distracts and takes me out of the book, I feel I should have bought it on paper, and regret spending my credits on it. The short sample I heard before buying wasn’t enough to convey this. I hope they can go back to the previous reader.

Whisker of a Doubt

This book was as good as the rest of the books but incomplete! I was very unhappy to discover that there was no ending! Amazon reader

Narration

This narrator has everyone speaking through their noses and almost everyone speaks in the same range.
The previous narrator is much better. Doesn't anyone audition their narrators?

Unfortunately I don’t like the narrator

Couldn’t get through the whole book. I don’t care for the new to the series narrator and halfway through I decided I didn’t want to listen anymore. I’ve really enjoyed the series til now.

The story was good.

I liked the story and the progression of the characters and the story line. I did not like the the narrator at all. She did not have the same feel for the characters as the other narrator.

really enjoyable=)1

i love these stories! they're so much fun and i find myself laughing a lot=)
I'm glad Willa and Striker fiiinally came to The realization, too;) Gus is growing on me, too. the only thing is, as much as listening to other series with Ms McCarthy has become enjoyable too, I'm wondering, is she taking over Audible?! i seem to be finding her everywhere, and i don't understand why. Ms.Rodgers was Exceptional in this series and did the first 5 books. now suddenly, she's gone. I'm not saying McCarthy is a bad voice actor, she's honestly good, i just don't get it.
also, this book came out in 2019, with an ending that promised more to come. but now, 2 years later, and nothing. i hope Ms Dobbs has more ahead in this series. it'll definitely be worth the wait!

Narrator

I really enjoyed this series. But, it would be better if the same narrator was used for the WHOLE series. Would be less confusing.

Your Story's are always " THE BEST"

I haven't listened to one of you books for a while. I have them all in Mystic Notch. Imnot sure when yoy changed narrator's, It was a Big Mistake taking Elisabeth away from narrating your books!!!!
Why.... when you have the perfect narrator from the beginning ????
It absolutely ruins the whole feeling of the book. I'm elderly and can't see to read. She is NOT your stars of the book!! It's absolutly ruined ,my enjoyment of all the characters I know in these loved books!!! Please get Elisabeth back!!!!!!!!!!!

I liked Elisabeth Rodgers

I did not care for Hollis McCarthy as narrator. I liked Elisabeth Rodgers much better. she had a great variation to her voice making the characters come alive.

About the reader

I do not necessarily care for the voice of the reader. At times it is normal but sometimes it doesn't sound normal., Rather strange like a ghost herself.
Like LeAnn Dobbs cozy mysteries fine! Would buy more!

Awful new narrator

I have really enjoyed these books and was excited to listen to this the sixth book in the series. It didn’t occur to me to check to see if the narrator was different in the 6th book after listening to the other 5 back to back as it wouldn’t ever occur to me that this would happen..I mean who does that?..I have struggled in vain to listen to this as I am invested in these books and maybe I could have managed if it had been anyone else ..Unfortunately this narrator speaks in a very nasal monotone voice and every single character sounds the same and then she starts talking like a gangster out of an old film every now and then..I can’t tell who’s who and it’s absolutely terrible..can’t keep listening to the book so series ruined..why oh why has this been done..also what I did get through desperate to turn it around seems like it’s been written by someone else..it seems like a different style than before..I’ll be returning it , very disappointing not to be able to continue this series i enjoyed so much.

Awful narrator

I have loved this series of books until this one . Didn't realise the narrator had changed. Terrible drawling voice. Cannot hear half the words. Could not finish the book. Waste of money and time. No distinction between characters. If future books in series are produced I hope the original narrator reads them.

Narrated is absolutely awful

I have loved Leighann Dobbs books about Mystic Notch with Willa and her cat Solving all the problems and I have waited for ages to hear book six in the series of which I am deeply disappointed the book probably is fantastic but the narrator who reads it I cannot listen to Her voice so I haven’t found out whether or not Willa and her cat actually make it through I think she should’ve stayed with the original narrator as she had the book to a T and if the rest of the series is read by this new narrator then I won’t be getting them either
