Publisher's summary

When retired postmaster Albert Schumer is found dead on the steps of the post office, the whole town of Mystic Notch is disappointed he won’t be able to play in the annual checkers tournament.

But when his ghost informs middle-aged bookstore owner Willa Chance that he died trying to deliver an old letter, which has mysteriously gone missing, Willa realizes Albert didn’t just slip and fall. Someone killed him. Even worse, it turns out the letter contains a list of ingredients for a spell that could wreak havoc on Mystic Notch if it falls into the wrong hands.

The good news is that Pandora and the Mystic Notch cats are on the case. The bad news is that Pandora hasn’t made much progress in getting Willa to receive her subtle communications. She’s going to have to step up her game in that area because the cats are depending on her to secure the help of the humans if they want to stop the killer and protect the letter. Lucky thing Willa’s love interest, Eddie Striker, seems to be more receptive to Pandora’s attempt at communication.

Pandora might have a way to help the humans stop the person with the letter, earn the respect of the other cats, and help Willa and Striker realize they are made for each other. Will it work? Let’s hope so, because the fate of Mystic Notch depends on it.

Same narrator, different voices

If you have listened to the Mystic Notch series up to this point, you will notice that Hollis McCarthy’s narration style has changed with this book. It’s like she forgot how she voiced the characters for the whole series. Still a good book, but I’m put off by Hollis’ characterizations for this one. Hoping for a return to the old voices for the next episode.

Narration

This narrator has everyone speaking through their noses and almost everyone speaks in the same range.
The previous narrator is much better. Doesn't anyone audition their narrators?

Why do you change narrators mid-series!?

I really loved this series by Leighann Dobbs and have waited a while to finally see the audio book available today. Then I started listening. Oh. No. While Hollis McCarthy has a fine voice, it puts me off, too deep and nasal, it vibrates through my Bose speaker making it very very hard to understand. Why did you have to change. This book is going to be returned because I doubt I can get through it. Why. Why. Why. Stop changing narrators mid series!

Left feeling wanting more

I had a really hard time liking the new person speaking the book in audible. I felt the story was missing the voice from the previous books, it changed the story for me to a simpler story. I would love to see the previous voice read the last book.

New Reader

I really do not understand why so many are saying they do not like this new reader. I think she is great and got voices just right! I hope you keep Hollis McCarthy, I like her!

The story was good.

I liked the story and the progression of the characters and the story line. I did not like the the narrator at all. She did not have the same feel for the characters as the other narrator.

Whisker of a Doubt

Another fun read by Leighann Dobbs featuring the cat Pandora, her human, and friends. Solving a murder that could prove to be a danger to their future.

I liked Elisabeth Rodgers

I did not care for Hollis McCarthy as narrator. I liked Elisabeth Rodgers much better. she had a great variation to her voice making the characters come alive.

Narrator

I really enjoyed this series. But, it would be better if the same narrator was used for the WHOLE series. Would be less confusing.

About the reader

I do not necessarily care for the voice of the reader. At times it is normal but sometimes it doesn't sound normal., Rather strange like a ghost herself.
Like LeAnn Dobbs cozy mysteries fine! Would buy more!
