I loved the use of the cocoon to help explain and the story telling and memoir aspects. I loved everything about this book.

Read this book over time

Sue Monk Kidd is an amazing writer. This book, however, was written at a time in her life when spewing Bible verses in quick succession seemed the right thing to do. Maybe it works when reading a chapter a week, giving yourself time for reflection. There are insightful moments!

However, I did not figure this out until now, and frankly, 2/3 of the way through, I sped it up to 1.2 speed and quit listening altogether, half hour before the end.

Maybe the timing was off for me. I inhaled Dance of the Dissident Daughter when it was published. But now, age 72, a narrative meant to instill in me the patience of a caterpillar in chrysalis was poorly targeted. Thanks, anyway.
